I know this may sound silly, But we have a cockatial and have the opportunity to adopt a Parrotlet. We have a huge Parrott cage for them both to live in. We also have another smaller cage, but would they get along? Couldn't they / wouldn't they, be friends???

No, you should not house them together. Actually the parrotlets are like little feisty parrots, and would probably hurt the gentler cockatiels. Mixing species in one cage, except for some kinds of finches, is not recommended.

You can, but not right away. have them in two smaller cages sitting really close together so they get used to each other before you put them in the one cage. Less chance of them fighting over territory if they are used to each other's company - leave them together in seperate cages for at least a few weeks.

When you do decide to put them in the one cage, do it early in the day on a day when you can be home all day to keep an eye on them and 'rescue' one if they don't get along. Many people, zoos and wildlife parks have 'community' aivries.

If I was you, I wouldn't put two different species in the same cage. One could get seriously hurt. The cockatiel would probably hurt it since they are bigger. Don't take any chances. You could lose a pet. Don't even let them out playing together.
