i got a parakeet about a month ago, hes pretty young i think and i have one of those orange flavored cuttlebone for it. it doesnt chew on it on anything. im scared that this beak would grow too long. u can kinda tell that the beak is growing but itsnot too long i guess. it looks normal sized but u can tell that the end of it is growing, is this normal? i dont wanna take it to trim its beak at a vet. will it start using it if he needs it? how can i make it use its cuttlebone.

this bird is in a residential area on the ground. I live in Calgary Alberta CANADA and its winter here now.

i am about to get a cockatiel and im ver well prepared i picked it out and its still a baby anbd i have a cage set up my dog is a chihuahua but shes sooo nice to ppl im scared shell be jelous though and maybe eat it? what do i do about this? i want my bird and dog to be safe and happy

I got my gorgeous cockatiel nearly a week ago. I spend alot of time with him as i dont work so it only him and me until my partner gets home from work. But recently i have noticed that when im in the same room he is quiet, but when i leave he starts chirping really loud and a couple times has actually tried to fly around in his cage.. When i come back into the room he is fine. What is he trying to tell me? Im new to this and im a lil worried that im stressing him out, and i dont want to do that at all. He is tame but i only get him out when my partner comes home, because "Show-off" gets cranky if knows he is going back in the cage and i need a lil help, lol. Can anybody help me?

I would like to build a small outdoor aviary and am wondering if ringnecks and bobwhite would do ok together or if they would give each other diseases/fight/etc? Could you add pigeons to the mix?

im so excited! i got a budgie from petsmart yesterday. he is blue, and i named him bailey! the cool thing is, as soon as he was brought home, he was ready to hop onto my finger! he is adorable! but i do have a couple questions!

~ he hasnt really made a single sound since i got him, he was chirping at the store and bobbing his head at me, but now he is SO quiet! he never makes a sound!
~ he wont play with the toys i brought him, how can i get him to interact with me more than just perching on my finger and nibbling food from my hand
~ he is not clipped, and i dont want to clip him, but occasionally he gets bored of my finger and flies off around the room. i would like to train him to fly to my hand when i say a command or something. how do i do this?

ps, he know the stepup command already, i taught him after school today! please help me! thanks sooo soo much! bye

I have a boy budgie that wont fly he will only glyde to the groung how do i make him fly and i also have a cat who loves to eat but suprisingly doesnt get fat how could you stop him going through so much food i dont feed him to much eather lol

ight ummmmmmmmmmi have a baby blue and white parakeet with a whitish purplish nose(so is that a boy or girl)
second question my bird is ina fairly large cage with toys.........and i want him to be a good pet but should i get him a friens cuz he looks lonley...and he never plays wit his toys he jus sits in the same spot the whole time and mumbles to his self...i have had him for almost 3 months so will some one plz help me lol....confused should i get him some more toys or a buddy but keep in mind thaT I WANT A FRIENDLY LOVE ABLE PET
