I'm looking for my pet parakeet. I forgot to feed him for a few days and I feel really badly. But I can't find him anywhere. Even if he's dead, I'd like to find him.

Another bird ID question. :-)

This bird has been hanging in a pile of leaves in my front yard all morning. I've never seen one like this in my 'hood, so I'm wondering what it is. Here's what I can see:

He's larger than a sparrow but slightly smaller than, say, a mourning dove;
He's buff-brown in color (like a mourning dove) but he has dark markings on his back;
He has large black eyes and dark markings on top of his head;
He has a long bill, like a shorebird. It might be curved down. He also appears to have a short tail;
I only saw him walk briefly, but he doesn't appear to have long legs or webbed feet.

I don't know if the bird is an adult of a juvenile. I also don't know if it's male or female.

The bird looks sort of like a sandpiper or something like that to me. I don't live anywhere near water (I'm in the Phila. burbs), so I guess he's just passing thru on his way to nicer pastures.

Any guesses? Thanks.

It's between dove- and duck-sized, has a light gray body and dark gray feathers, and a brown head. It's feathers stick out behind its body, and end in a point. Someone said that it might be a quail, but it doesn't have that familiar little doo-hickey on its head. We live in Illinois. On top of that, it's been sitting in the same spot for a while, occasionally bending down to peck at the ground.

He has the chance of another Macaw, also male but red (scarlet). He has been told that by introducing the other parrot to the cage it will stop the first one squawking.
Question is will it?
Also, is it a good idea to get the second parrot anyway?
If it is not a good idea, then how does he stop the first one from being so noisy?

Hi..I have a 5 year old male budgie, he's been by himself the whole time except for once when we tried to put a female in there. They HATED each other and were seperated. He has been alone since. He always looks in his mirror, so I am wondering , do you think he would like a friend, or not, since he's been alone for so long? I was thinking of trying a male with him. do you think he will accept another bird, or hate that it gets as much attention as him?

Thank You

I was in my backyard, just standing their and a hawk flew about 5 feet above my head and started making that caw noise that they always make. I thought it was going to attack me so I ran into my house. (there were no hawk nests near me!) Why did it do this?

It's the only one I've had that won't come near me. He flies round the cage at 90 so you can't get him but when you eventually do, he bites really hard, I realise he's just protecting himself. I don't want him to be scared of me just sit on my shoulder and walk on me like the other one did. Help, what can I do???

We live in Jacksonville, FL, and no birds have come to see us. We put the feeder in the back yard with seeds that should attract the kinds of birds we have seen in out camphor trees, but they are not coming at all. We haven't even had a squirrel.

My fiance and I are moving to Boulder Colorado in July, we currently live in South west Florida. We're moving from a city that is only 9 feet above sea level to a city that is over 5,000 feet above sea level. We have an African Grey Parrot that has never been at an altitude that high. We've heard of animals having problems adjusting to the change in altitude. I know for us people, we need to drink alot more water because dehydration is common at higher alititudes... But what should I be worried about for our bird? What are the odds of him having a negative reaction to the sudden change? We're planning on driving when we move, and from Florida it would take us a couple days to get there, and in a moving truck, we wouldn't be rushing our trip. Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

My husband threw the cage into the garden in a rage and one flew away. It is freezing outside. Will he die of the cold or will he get attacked first? I feel so terrible for him.
