Karen Carpenter did more in her short life than most of us will ever do just by giving us that song! Haven't heard it in several years but thanks to your question, I just played it through in my head. Oh, and it's "they long to be" btw.

What do you mean"everytime she is near"the woman in power?Maybe she has that ":midas touch" whatever she touch turns to gold and the birds(cronies)are so fond with golds,thats why they are appearing..(if you translate into politics now)
