No, there are several breeds of chickens which inherited (from their ancestors the jungle fowl) a genetic mutation known as true or complete melanism where feathers, skin, internal organs, and even bones are completely black as coal. These breeds include the silkie chicken, some pure sumatras (though some have the melanism bred out), and a breed called Ayam Cemani that is breed in Indonesia. Not only does it look weird, but this coal-black meat apparently also has great religious significance.

In some parts of the world black skinned chickens are highly thought of and I believe are sometimes used in religious ceremonies. Silkies are the only common breed in America that has black skin. There are a number of breeders who are working with Silkies and some of the meat breeds to develope a larger, meatier, black skined bird.

No, there actually IS a black skinned Chicken. Saw it on that History Channel show "Andrew Zimmern". He goes around and eats all sorts of weird stuff. He said it tasted just like white chicken.

Those chickens are called silkie chickens. People use them for soup purposes becuase they are rich in protien and considerd very healthy. Sikie chickens are twice the price of regular chickens that you find in a grocery store.
