My two pet ducks were shot in my yard by youngsters, I know they are protected by law and it is a feloney for anyone to kill or mane an animal in Louisiana. Cops can't do nothing, because the kids were 9 yrs old.

And why can't the police do anything? If the kids are too young to be held responsible, hold the parents responsible. Someone gave those kids guns and did not supervise their use!

Wrong. The police can do something. A minor who commits a crime can still be held accountable. If nothing else they have deprived you of property. ( Sorry, that is how pets are defined ) Their parents owe you for the value of that property. The ducks were killed out of season and no doubt without a duck stamp. ( 9 yr. olds do not require a hunting license but are still required to have the Federal duck stamp. ) So if the police won't do anything the state fish and game dept. should.

I'm sure the police can go after the parents, or at least that's what the law allows them to do here.

If an adult had done it then yes the coppers would be able to do something.
