I think it's cute and funny. I let her loose in my room and she stays away from me because she is doing her own thing but there are time I fall asleep or go in there to take a nap. When she see that I am asleep, she'll start picking at my face & hands until I wake up and then she goes back to what she was doing. She only takes the time to play with me when she see's me sleeping and I was wondering if that is just her being mischievious or does she think something is wrong with me because I'm sleeping?

Ive had my lovebird for about a month now, and he his getting used to stepping up on a stick, but he will fly away from my finger and hands anytime i get close to him. i have to go into a really small room just to get him on my finger, and if he does go on it, he flys away almost instantly, or he will automatically fly to my head or shoulder. Is there any training advice that i could get to make him more friendly?

I have had chickens for a long time and I know what I'm doing most of the time, but this time I am kinda stumped.
I had a hen hatch out some baby chicks. Another bird attacked one and broke its femur bone.
The chick is probably about 2-3 weeks old.
It is a clean, jagged break.
I have it in a "splint" and the the whole leg is wrapped with vet wrap.
The bird doesnt seem to be in too much pain. He can hop to eat and drink and seems pretty content in the cage.

What else can I do for him?
Not the vet, they have no clue, and NO im not just going to kill him.

The swelling is going down, he is on an antibiotic, and it seems like it may be healing.

What do you think the chances are that the leg will heal?
What can I give him for the pain and swelling?

(and yes I understand it prob. wont heal correctly and he will be a hopper, thats fine I can handle that)

Any input or past experience would be nice! well unless it has just kill it in the answer!

my finches just had 4 eggs like 3 weeks ago but they still haven't hatched why is that? I read some books on Zebra Finches and they all say that they should hatch about 2 weeks after laid. The female finch lays on them for all 3 weeks but now she stop. Are The Eggs gonna make it?

Any help appreciated. I have a three year old male Cockatiel, wings unclipped, who has developed difficulty in flying in the last 24 hours. He seems healthy, alert, in no pain and I have noticed no change in his behaviour. My birds are excersised every evening and this is the first time that I have noticed him having any problems flying. He just drops, and when he is on the floor he is not breathing heavily or fast. There are some large feathers on the floor of the cage. Is it possible that he might have lost some flight feathers or have suffered a wing injury whilst in the cage.
He seems in no pain, and has spent most of this evening preening himself and preening his brother!
Any advice appreciated, all the best
Robin

Before the mating season, neither were really tame but I could get them out and hold them, take them to the shower for a bath, etc..
Now they barely let me change out their water or food without getting BIT!
Will they go back to being easier to handle after I remove the babies in a few weeks?

I have to sell two of mine. One is a 3 year old White faced male who is very handsome. He talks a bit and whistles many tunes. However, he prefers men and tends to nip women. He was hand raised. The other is a white faced female who is two and rather mellow. She is almost all white and very preety. She isn't super friendly but doesn't nip like the male. I have to get rid of them due to unfortunate circumstances as much as I regret it.

And my male (also cockatiel) whenever he is in the cage he spreads the eggs and I think the female is cracking the eggs 'cause when the male is out of the cage, one of the eggs sticks onto the mothers stomach feathers because the egg is cracked and the yolk is makin the egg stick?

I have a cockatiel who is only like 2 months old. I want to buy him a companion, but 'tiels are so expensive! (I am only teenager so EVERYTHING IS EXPENSIVE!!) At my petstore a gray tiel is $50 and mutations like lutinos, pieds, etc are $80. I was wondering what companion I should get it. Budgies are cool because they are only $15, but some people say tiels and budgies hate eachother, while other people say they love eachother!!! (I am quite confused!!) Can you people tell me what would be good with my 'tiel? Lovebirds are believe $30 so that's not quite as bad. I know lovebirds and parrotlets can eat my cockatiel's food (seeds grains etc from store), can a budgie?

I recently got a green cheek, he's just a baby but sometimes i think he's trying to mock sounds but i'm not sure.
How long does it take a green cheek(or any lesser speech gifted parrot) begin to try mocking you?
Does it happen within months or is it usually a year or more before they do this?

I have 3 cockatiels. One is tame and I'd like to keep it that way. The other two aren't. They don't enjoy being around people and I feel bad for them. So, what would you think of putting the two untame birds (male and female) together in a big aviary and my tame boy in a cage so he can have more attention. The two untame birds would be the only ones in the aviary. I don't mind if they breed. If they show signs of wanting to breed, I can put my nesting box with them. I raised and handfed the tame male and know what I'm doing. It is highly unlikely they will breed, though. What is you opinion on this arrangement? Do you see anything wrong with it?
