I am suppsosed to take my bird back to the store for wing clipping whenever they grow back. I know how to check I just lightly spread my bird's wing to check. I was just wondering how long it will take for them to need it.

I depends on when his last molt was so it is hard to say exactly. Most birds need their flights trimmed about twice per year.

Birds should be clipped when their feathers have grown back enough so that they can fly more than a few feet. This is usually after a molt and for most birds about once a year. If clipping is done during a molt, then some of the clipped feathers may still continue to grow out. New feathers may also grow in as well. If you wait until the molt is complete there should be a need for only one clipping. However, if your bird is flying, you may not be able to wait and can do multiple clippings.

Spring is when feathers grow back in after a molt.
So you will probably see many new blood filled quills.
You didn't say if your bird is free flying in the house or caged.
You did ask when you will know to have the flights clipped, so is when the flight feathers are grown out-the first/longest six feather's. Be sure to advise or ask the groomer to check for blood feather's before clipping any feather's. You don't want any blood feather's cut through, will cause bleeding and then they will need to be plucked, and when wing feathers that can be tricky to do and few know the correct way.

I suggest if the bird does still have blood feathers you wait to have them clipped, unless you fear full flighted is a danger to the bird.
Hope this helped.

once every year to year and a half. it depends on each bird on how long it takes for the molt and the new feathers to grow in.

Its different with every different kind of bird...if he can fly away from you, and are getting nasty...time for the wings to get cut..
