on the one hand she will be busy with a partner, but less social towards you.
A mirror for a bird cage will change her mood for the better.
She most likely is not lonely as she is bored and getting used to the routine in your house.
Once she gets her footing you won't be able to shut her up when she wants to talk.
if you add a recording of your voice with a couple of sayings you want her to learn, it will alleviate boredom and lonliness.
She has a bright mind and needs to keep it busy.
In the wild she is the watch dog of the jungle.
she and her flock will warn the surrounding neighbors of anything amiss from the usual routine.
you will want to cover her cage at the times you don't want her to scream, which she will do if she sees anyone pass by your house, or hears a new voice in the house.
otherwise, just give her time and patience and make sure she is clean and warm and well fed.
Oh and most important, she needs lots of interaction with you so that she will come to view you as her partner. All birds need to be half of a whole, no matter who they attach to.
She'll turn around and surprise you one day and will be one of your most memorable pets.

Do you spend time with her? Cockatiels are very social little birds and like being on people when there isn't another bird around. If you don't have time for the little girl, get her a buddy.

Is you cockatiel hand-fed? Is so, do not buy a new bird. Just leave the cage open and watch TV or read a book near her. Eventually she will lose her fear and start to bond with you. If you get another cockatiel, they will bond and be very independant. You will not be able to keep them tame. After you bond with this bird, you can buy a parakeet to keep her company when you are away. But never another tiel.

I extremely have a marginally super woman cockatiel and a dinky little boy budgie interior an identical cage and that they get on like a house on fire. asserting that although i became advised to not positioned them interior the cage jointly. What i could recommend is slowly introduce them by utilizing perhaps borrowing a small cage from somebody for the budgie and sitting the cages element by utilizing element for some days, then positioned them in jointly in the event that they seem super, yet shop a watch on them merely in case they start scuffling with. stable success :o)

First off, make sure he is not sick. A sure sign of sickness is diarhea or sitting at the bottom of the cage instead of on the perch. Also, make sure the cage is away from air conditioning vents or drafts. Toys are important, don't overcrowd with toys and rotate them every couple of weeks to prevent boredom. *A mirror is great for cockatiels because it makes them feel like they have company in the cage.* But, most important, try to spend at least 15 min. a day with your bird outside of his cage, as they are very social animals (flock) and enjoy your company. Great times ahead for you and your pet!

If she gets plenty of time out of her cage & time to spend with you on a daily basis she shouldn't be lonely.
You could get another, but if you do, they're likely to bond to one another & want nothing to do with you.
Really the best thing you can do for her is spend more time with her to keep her happy.
Also you've only had her 1 week. She will be somewhat withdrawn from you & the household until she settles & relaxes in her new home. Don't mistake the withdraw for boredom, she may just need to adjust before you see the real her come out of her shell.

If you want the bird to socialize with you, don't get another bird as they will pair up ("birds of a feather...") and you will be the outsider. A mirror behind the cage and small toy mirrors in the cage will make him feel like he is not alone. Play with him as much as you can and get him some toys too. Good luck !

She's just adjusting to her new home. I have a canary who is home alone all day and he is okay. I spend time with him at night and on the weekends. I'm sure your new bird will be fine - leave a radio on for her when you leave the house. It helps.
