I've tried looking it up online, but haven't been able to come up with anything. I noticed that the coloring is sometimes very close with all the mutations available. Is there a defeniate way to destinguish between the two?

My parakeet is acting weird. He's sitting on one perch he's been there for about 3 hours and there's one dropping stuck to his vent feathers. I put seed in my hand and he ate it with one foot on my hand like he usually does. PLEASE HELP!!! I covered his cage for the night. What can I do?

You had to board your bird and the same person who you trusted and have boarded with before did not tell you that they had lost a bird who had stopped eating a short time before your bird arrived and had housed your bird in that same cage without having done an autopsy on their bird. As a result my Blue and Gold recently passed away of PDD. What if this person continued to breed and board other birds. I've called her vet, and called animal control. Her vet couldn't speak to me, animal control told me that they do not deal with exotics and that I should call a lawyer. So much for animal protection.

I noticed a week ago that there was blood at the bottom of the cage and on his wing. I assumed he had a night scare. But recently his wing has deteriorated, and I am wondering if he is diseased. I'm not very knowledgeable about cockatiels, and would be very grateful for any information. Here are the pictures:

We have a cockateil that is always kept in a cage. (she loves it in there).. Anyway my 4 year old nephew who was here on vacation let the bird out of its cage. He was told 5 times not to open the cage and as soon as we left the room he did it again. My cairn terrier (who was only going on instinct) got the bird. We were able to retrieve it from the dog but its been with a bandage on its leg for 3 weeks. It was near death but now Its doing great, singing gained weight, eating...but yesterday my vet (an aviary specialist) said the leg is not bonding and it needs to be amputated. Does any one have or know anyone that has a one legged bird? .Any help or experince with this?

ok.,i've had this 3 month old budgie for about 11 days now and he's still kinda quiet and not chirping constantly like i've heard most budgies do.and he always looks like he's breathing pretty hard cuz his chest is always moving like that and he stands on one foot and he kind of moves forward on his pirch just slightly so i was wondering is it possible that he could still not be adjusted to his home and his new surroundings or do these things sound like some sort of a budgie illness?also the man at the pet store said that you can't really tell the gender yet since he is only 3 months old but another man looked at him and said that he is a male and wrote that on his form thing or whatever,so how do i know for sure?oh yeah, his cere is a slight pinkish/purple almost blue type color so do you think that the man was right about him being a male?

I noticed this yesterday too. One of my budgies is an yellow faced albino budgie and i bought him and the other one 3 days ago and i can see him picking at his feathers. Its not even that hes picking at them but it looks like hes grabbing onto the feathers and like straightning them out. At this very moment hes doin it. I see no feathers falling off when he does this but he does it all over many times during the day. Is this normal??
