Ok so yeah..I have a male and female parakeet. The've been bonded since they were taken away from their parents. A few days ago..about 2 I beleive they were out of the cage and had sex. I don't know if I should expect eggs or not..but the female has been eating alot more the ussual. Is that a sign thatshe might lay eggs soon? Or is she just abnormally hungry.

over eating is a good sign. just be sure that u give her plenty of fruits and veggies and put a mineral block in the cage too.
if your gonna expect eggs, then u have to remember that if the parents abandon the eggs or chicks, its going to be kind of hard to treat the eggs or chicks. never touch the eggs if the parents are still caring for them and never move the cage or anything in it. it will disturb the parents and they wont care for their babies any more. PUT A NESTING BOX IN THE CAGE AND PINE SHAVING AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAGE (THEY WILL USE THE PINE SHAVINGS TO BUILD THE NEST)

We had a cockatiel that laid eggs. There was no male around, she jusy laid eggs. She would nestle her rear, with her tail raised, up to a corner of the cage. She'd lay on the bottom with her wings a little spread, anticipating. An egg came, a few days later, another egg. A few days later, another egg & so on. She gathered them underneath her, & took good care of her eggs. She didn't know I guess, no babies were in them. I didn' t notice a difference in her eating pattern.

Just in case I would put a nesting box in her cage, one with a top that lifts up so you can peek and know for sure.
Sorry hon, but until she actually lays the eggs, you won't know.
I hope she lays at least one that hatches. They are so funny for the first month or so and it is really fun to watch them grow.
Best of luck to you.
