I've had IRNs before. I have had three lutinos/yellow IRNs (two of them now dead from fighting ='/) and this little green bugger.

He?/She?/It? has been with us for about two years now and she came to us pretty much grown. I'm not sure how old it is, but by now it should be easy to tell what gender my bird is. Sometimes, it acks like a female and other times it acts male.
Sorry for the picture. I took it with my cell phone

I already know the difference between male and female IRNs. Only this one confuses me.

I am seriously confused, it LOOKS like it has a faint black ring but it doesn't show the other characteristics of males
Excluding the occasional gender-bender behavior.

Can someone look at the picture and tell me what they think?

Hello, It looks like you have a beautiful male there!!! He is still young at two, ringnecks may not reach maturity and gain their adult feathers until three. (My sunday conure took two years to get his adult feathers). Anyway, male ringnecks almost always have the reddish color beak on top. The females beak will be all black. Good luck, he sure is handsome!!

This is either a female or a young male. Males don’t get the black rose ring around their neck until they are around one to two years old.

Also if you go on Wikipedia and type in rose ringed Parakeet it gives you some very helpful information on the gender. Hope that helps! Also you have a VERY beautiful bird!

The males mature at 2 years & get their ring. If it's under 2 years you may not be able to tell yet.

Some females can also have a VERY faint ring around their necks.

Looks female. We had a male, and he had a beautiful set of colored rings around his neck, but it took him awhile to get them.
