He is only 7 weeks old he was hand reared, he's defenatly male, very friendly. I bought him at the pet shop only yesterday.
Altho I am quite pleased with him I have a concern.
He is in a large cage with wheels so then we can have him inside at night, he has heaps of toys, constant water and lots of food with cuttlefish and an apple stuck to the side of the cage.
He dose not bite and is very confident around people He is abit shakey but I understand that as he is in a diffrent enviroment with strangers and animals he has neva seen b4, but my concern is,
we have the cage durning the day outside so he can see and hear the other birds, tho he seems happy I sometimes wonder that with him seeing and hearing the other birds would that make him an less tame that what he already is?
I hope I haven't raved on, but I do love him and it would upset me if I did all I could for him to then end up with him untamed.
I handle him often.
Thanks....

No, he just may start imitating the bird sounds outside. Keep playing with him and he'll be fine. Make sure it's not too hot, cold, or windy outside and he has a part of his cage where it's protected from the wind so that he doesn't get cold. Take him inside if you ever see him panting or looking dehydrated.

NO taking your bird outside is not going to make him untamed in fact I will share a story with you my uncle next door has the exact some bird he takes him out side everyday depending on weather well one day the bird was flying around in the house and someone opened the door well least to say my uncles bird flew out the door and kept on flying the bird did not return that day or the next so my uncle placed an add in the newspaper about his bird well the next day a lady called from a farm several miles away and said she thinks she saw his bird outside with other birds so my uncle took his cage and drove to the ladies place once there he called for his bird and like nothing new the bird flew to him as quick as it could so I doubt your bird will be untamed by watching other birds soon he will consider you his mate and if you know something about cockatiels is they mate for life so your bird won't want to leave you
Enjoy your new bird

Mine only goes outside, when I go with him. I put him in a smaller cage, and take him out in the evenings. But he is not interested in other birds. I take him to the glass door to look out at the birds each morning, he turns and looks back at me. If they are very tame, they think of themselves as of Your flock, not bird flocks. My parakeets liked to watch the birds outside, and were people birds also, but the cockateil doens't seem the least interested in other birds. I would never leave a bird outside without me being right there beside them.

Personally I would keep him inside. There are too many things that could go wrong. Heat stroke, predators too! It's just not worth risking. If you want him to be near toehr birds and such open a window. They like the fresh air and sounds but they are safe inside.

put him back inside in the air conditioner. they don't care about seeing and hearing other birds if you were so worried about it you should have got him a companion bird. They get dehydrated very fast out there and are too stupid to know when its hot like that they are supposed to drink alot. and even if it isn't really hot they still get sunburn and stuff.

He shouldn't stay outside all day. He has to be taken outside of his cage for a few hours every day and you should play with him. If not, then he'll get untame. At the rate you're going yes he will be untame.
