It is possible, because sometimes baby birds are abandoned by their real parents and are then adopted by Society Finches. (who readily adopt other finches' eggs) Then if the babies grow up around the Society finches, they may think that they are Society Finches and will then breed with Society Finches and/or try to get Society Finches to breed with them. So basically it isn't necessarily the Society Finches breeding with other finches, it is baby finches raised thinking they are Society finches. I have two Zebra Finches who were raised around Societies after they could eat on their own, but they do not think they are Societies, they just sing like Society finches.
