A group of starlings have made noises which imitate a cat I have. I have a hunch that the cat killed the starling and they are mimiking the cat to let me know the starling has died. Your thoughts?

As long as I can remember they can. They mimmick telephones a lot as well.

Starlings do mimic sounds. The telephone is one you hear quite often along with varied chattering noises. I t is quite possible they have heard cat sounds and picked up on it.

Starlings mimic a lot. They often imitate cats and there is one near me which imitates a hawk! It is just something they do - there is no hidden message!

I have never heard of starlings mimicking anything yet heres a starling site maybe you can learn more about them there.

Starlings are excellent mimics, they are in the same family of the Asian and African Mynas and like the Parrots they can mimic quite a variety of sounds,early English settlers to took them to America and various other countries to remind them of England

Yes they can do. Starlings will mimic just about any sound they hear.

they are great mimics.....when the trimfone was launched people got very confused on answering the phone , only to discover it was the starlings!
