Old superstition, actually in many cultures its considered good luck to be shat on by a bird in general, guess it's based on the statistical probability of being in the right place at the right time. If this were true I'd have won the lottery a while ago as I've been nailed by a variety of birds (sparrows, crows, robins, pigeon...) and I can assure you I didn't feel lucky any of those times. If you want to test it out try standing under a pigeon roosting site to increase your odds, then quickly purchase a lottery ticket to see if the "luck" is carried on!

Lol i have never heard that but i know wouldnt think it was good luck i got pooped on by a pigeon then i tripped xD so not to much luck for me lol

**laughs** Must be an old superstition from New York! Since being $h17 on by a pigeon isn't very common, folks must have decided good luck was on the way when such a crappy (sorry. Couldn't resist!) situation occured.
Leave it to a city dweller to invent stuff like this XD .
