Nope, they lay eggs based on daytime hours, not the presence of a male.
In fact, most, if not all, of the eggs you buy at any grocery store are unfertilized from hens that never been w a roo.

A chicken will lay eggs throughout her life without ever having seen a rooster. Most people prefer the unfertilized eggs (even though there really isn't much difference).
So, no. You don't need a rooster to get eggs for eating.

You do not need a rooster to get eggs. Most people will find that if they plan to eat eggs, not having a rooster is preferable. Fertilized eggs will often have a bloodspot in the egg which can be distasteful to some and if you don't catch them early, fertilized eggs will have a developing embryo in them which is not conducive to a good appetite if you get that put on your plate.

Technically, no, roosters are not needed for chickens to lay eggs. They only are needed to fertilize the eggs and produce baby chicks. However, because of the social heirarchy of chickens, it is recommended to have at least 1 rooster. If you simply don't want more chickens, then the fertilized eggs are just as nutritious and delicious as non-fertilized eggs.

Its true chickens can lay eggs without a rooster, they wont hatch into chickens though as they havent been fertilised by the rooster. Vegetarians can eat eggs, its vegan's that can't, your friend must be confused. Vegetarians dont eat meat. Vegans dont eat animal or dairy products at all

depends on the chicken- some need a rooster present for a couple weeks to get them in the egg laying mood (then you remove the rooster and have baby free eggs). Others are pretty stupid and will just start cranking out eggs. Make sure they get over 12 hrs of sunlight and are warm (optimal laying conditions)

All birds can lay infertile eggs without male intervention. Roosters are needed for copulation (sex) to produce fertile eggs that yield chicks. Have a great day everyday

No, we get chickens every year and they lay eggs every week without roosters, you only need roosters to fertilize the eggs if you wanna hatch them.
