I was told by one breeder that I shouldn't let pigeons go only if they where hatched at my house. If I will they will go back where they origaly came from. I took the chance after a few weeks I let the pair go out side. I allmost gave up and guess what, after two days they came back.

I would tell you to visit this group on yahoo, over 1100 people that raise pigeons and doves and some old time breeders on that group, they helped me alot with my doves.

If this is a wild born pigeon it will probably hang around for a short time when you release it but it will eventually pick up with its wild kin and return to the wild. If this is a captive born "Homing Pigeon", these will return to the place of their birth. I have had wild pigeon babies from time to time and they did hang around for a short time but later moved on. Have fun with it for now but it will probably find a friend when released and start a family of its own.

You can never let a bird go because any bird won't come back especially a wild bird. but there's a possiblitie. give it a try and let me know how it goes.
