It's quite simple.
Chickens evolved through genetic mutation of other species.
That mutation comes before birth/hatching.
Therefore the egg that held the first chicken embryo had to come first.
This was the first ever chicken egg, as it contained a chicken, yet it was not laid by a chicken.
THe first chicken to lay an egg was the one that hatched from that first egg, assuming it was a hen not a cockerel

Seriously,no one knows what comes first. It may be the hen or the egg because without the egg, there won't be the hen but without the hen ,there won't be the egg.Its quite a complicated question and no one had ever came out with an answer yet.

definately the egg- eggs came along way before any type of bird was around. Reptiles and dinosaurs laid eggs (the same type birds lay) before evolving into birds. So technically, the egg came first.
