thanks everybody, i have a blue crowned conure, adopted 2 months ago and he is 5. i want to train him to be friendlier, he is not too bad but could do better and im getting a baby cag in about 2 weeks. i have visited every website possible regarding birds, and it has helped tons with my lovies but i want try some books as well just in case. i basically want my birds to be happy and as sociable as possible, i wouldnt mind if they learn a few words and tricks but is not a deal breaker if they dont. i will appreciate any guidance in how to give my fids a stable home. i also have children, so anyhints for them and the grey would help, the conure is halfway there but could use some work.

For behavior, the best books that are out there are by Sally Blanchard, Bonnie Munro Doane and Mathie Sue Athan.

They give a good selection of both behavior, nutrition, caging, toys, foraging and a good crash course on all things avian that you'll need to know to properly care for your bird. It's just a starting point though. To truly understand your bird and give him all that he needs, your research should be ongoing, and you should always strive to learn something new every day where your bird is concerned. You'll both benefit from it in the longrun!

I stared with Parrots for Dummies first then researched specific types of birds after. Also just use the internet, everything is free! Google or yahoo "parrot care" and you will get tons of hits. For bird behavior I read Guide to a Well-Behaved Parrot by Mattie Sue Athan.

what kind of parrot book are you wanting? A breed book, a behavior or training book, a medical care book?

I am a professional behavior consultant and an active board member/educaiton coordinator of our local parrot club, I can definitely help you if I get more information.

"Guide to a Well Behaved Parrot", "Parrots for Dummies", and "My Parrot, My Friend" are my top three.
