I was watching these funny videos on animal planet and this parot was putting newspaper in it's feathers. Mom said that her birds did the same thing. Why do they do this?

what's the first thing it would say to you? Of course this doesn't include birds that can mimic.

I have a few books and surfed the net for info on nesting boxes suitable for Lovebirds in general and only found vague dimensions. I have not bred Lovebirds before, but have kept them and my family has been breeding various other birds for many years. The boxes we currently have are budgie (long flat shaped), small finch (cube shaped), large finch / Gouldian finch (shorter than a budgie box with an entry "room" and a nesting "room"), and Bourke parrot (similar to budgie box but bigger) nesting boxes. Would any of these nesting boxes be suitable for fishers and Masked Lovebirds? If not, what dimensions - more importantly - what shape boxes do they prefer? Do they prefer long flat, tall narrow or cube shaped boxes?

Can any one point me in the right direction either though their info or a website I can access? Thanks!

He’s moulting and spends most of the day preening, could it be just the “down dusts” making his beck look white? Or is he sick?
He is acting normal, eating, drinking, n singing he is how ever a little more grumpy when I approach him?
Any advice please!

I have found lately that my pet budgie keeps on stamping its feet on his perch and leaning forwards. It's always on one feet that this happens, is this something I should be worried about?

My birds layed four eggs and they have been sitting on them since 15 days (when the first 1 was laid). Also, their 2 babies, who are still not weaned (around 7 weeks) are with them in the cage and the babies sometimes go in the nestbox too. Anyways, the parents are both outside of the nestbox w/ their kids and they haven't been sitting on them for over 3 hours now. What is the reason behind this?

I have also been checking the eggs everyday and I candle them everyday too.

My parakeet (budgie) doesn't eat the whole seed, he leaves the shells in the bottom of the cage and I guess just eats the very center of the seed. I've never noticed a bird do that. Is that normal?

Sometimes he looks normal and smooth, other times he looks fluffed up and bigger. Why is that?
