what's the first thing it would say to you? Of course this doesn't include birds that can mimic.

Mine do TALK, they don't just mimic and I'll tell you why.

My husband and I were in an argument and it got rather heated and he stormed off, leaving me there with my cockatoos. One of my males (he's 22 and opinionated) looks at me and says very clearly...." @sshole!" I'm not sure which one of us he was referring to! This same bird has asked me "you ok?" when I didn't feel good!
They don't just repeat, they learn and assimilate the words and use them the way that they understand them. Some are smarter than humans that's for sure!!

My dove would probly say something among the lines of "don't give anytime to my girl" or "touch my feet, it feels great". My Budgies would say something around "Keep useing that lotion, it makes your fingers taste better". Sirwabs the cockteil would ask me if I could get off the computer and scratch his neck, and the other mal teil would probly say to give him a bath. The female teil would probly say to wear my earrings more.

My say's hello. What I want him to say is'go away' because I like to be alone in my room and everbody loves to go in there. So it would be easyer for me if my bird would say it for me.
