Hi,
My budgie has layed 6 eggs in total & has been nesting on them until today.
the first egg should hatch within 18 days however today is 18 days from when she first layed.
can anyone tell me why she has now decided that she does not want to lay on her eggs???
her male partner has normally been pushing her to go in the nest when she has popped out prev to get food etc or even when someone goes near the cage but now he does not seem fazed either and is not harrasing her to go back in.

Ducks and/or geese migrate south for the winter, but where do they go when a day is just unseasonably cold? I feel like I see less of them out on cold days.

I have a 2 yr. old male cockatiel who was purchased at a pet store, and is still a bit hand shy. My friend just gave me a hand-fed female, who is about 4 months old, and is super sweet. I'm wondering if it's going to cause problems if I house them separately, since I don't plan on breeding them. I don't want my male to become too dominant over the female, but I'd like them to be friendly enough to keep each other company while I'm at work. The male is already biting me when I try to pick him up, because he has not been allowed near the female, yet he knows she is there. Any suggestions??? Thanks!

he is relatively quiet most of the time(quiet for him anyways) but when my mother enters the room he goes insane. she holds him and talks to him more than everyone else. he knows that if he is obnoxious she will pick him up. she thinks its cute and im quite annoyed. he also seems to go into little fits of rage when she holds him sometimes. he has bitten her and drawn blood. any suggestions???

My little Newman is ten weeks old and on the final weaning stages. Only one feeding at night with a very thick feeding in the morning that he has to eat out of a dish. My problem is that he is so concerned with getting out of his cage that he doesn't eat when he's in there. Even if I'm not in the room - he'll just sit in one spot and sulk until I get back and then he just paces a squaks. He'll eat pellets and human food outside his cage when he's with us - but I know he's not eating when he's in his cage - EVER. I don't want to spoil him but I don't want him to starve either.

He really seems to hate being in his cage and he's only relaxed when with me. HELP please!!

If, as I am led to believe the Queen owns all the swans in G.B. Why does my grandson (aged 3) "nick" my bread to feed them. Surley Her Maj. with all Her wealth could afford to buy the odd loaf or two to feed Her own pets/animals, and not rely on Her hard up subjects. Yet again It's one rule for the rich, and one rule for the poor. God save the Queen.

I have cockatiels but would like to get a parakeet as well. I had them as a kid and they were so mean! Also, does your parakeet talk? Are males more likely to talk than females just like cockatiels?

Their nest box has been set up for about a month. I don't bother them very often. Only to feed, water, and clean cage daily. I heard them mating about a week ago. I have been in the room several times today to check on her. They are an experienced pair. But, i still worry. She is dropping huge droppings about the size of 10 or more normal size droppings. They have devoured a brand new cuddle bone within just a few days. She is puffed up and seems quite tired today. I don't know if this makes a difference but I can see her vent quivering. I have also witnessed her feeding the male twice today. and she has been sitting on her water dish. Which I filled to the top to make sure she is getting plenty of moisture. Does it sound like she is ready to lay? If yes, how long should it be?

I've got a lower perch and other places for him to be. But, everytime I leave the room he ends up back on top of his cage. I tried putting a sheet on the top to make it a little harder to perch but he still wants to be up there. he is very young and isn't displaying a dominant attitude when he is up there. But, I want to try and nip it in the bud before he gets older. How can I discourage him from going up there?

I knew a parrot whose cage was next to the phone and answering machine. It would mimic the phone ringing and clicking noise as if the machine picked up and reapeated the machine message. It was really strange!
