Just curious. Last year, we had 2 different house finch couples build their nests in our covered patio. 1 didn't make it due to a giant rat killing the mother bird & destroying her eggs.
The 2nd nest, they laid their eggs. Only 1 of the eggs hatched, but the baby finch only lived a few weeks then for whatever reason, it died.
Will a house finch couple return, or a new couple attempt to build their nest under our covered patio? I've cleaned up the old nesting materials last year?
Just curious to have something to look forward too this new years.

if a crow is touched by human being other crows attack it and hit it till it dies, the crow is not accepted back in the community.other birds like parrot or pigeons dont do this.i dont understand the reason of the brutal killing of crow touched by human being by its community.i once saw a small crow fell from the nest children tryed to feed it and the next movement it was attacked by the groups of crow till it was dead.somebody please give proper reason.

I have a female Amazon and a male parakeet (in separate cages, of course). The keet really seems to like the amazon and always wants to be around her when he's out of his cage. He'll fly onto the amazon's cage, or sit next to her if they're both on the bird play gym at the same time. The Amazon, though, will open her beak and lean toward the keet, which is when I step in to separate the two. It seems the keet looks at the bigger Amazon like a buddy, but the amazon views the keet as a potential snack. The Amazon doesn't growl at the smaller bird and for the most part will move away from the little guy when he walks over to her on the gym. He doesn't seem to understand she's a lot bigger and her beak can do major damage. What are the chances the Amazon will finally accept the keet as a little friend?

I have time to tame one, but do they bite hard?
I am wanting one but cant find a local breeder. and Ive already looked for rescues also.
Like I said, I have time to devote to taming one. just kinda worried about getting a big biter, if they often bite when un-tamed, do they grow out of this after awhile with training?

I had a duck as a child and it was a wonderful pet. My husband had a duck for a pet when he was a child and apparently it was a nightmare... I want to get our kids a duckling for Easter, help me convince him? BTW, I have raised all kinds of animals including several birds and am prepared in all aspects to care for it fully should my children not be so thrilled. (They are older and I suspect they will be, but you never know). Any words of wisdon or caution when he/she is actually little...?
