I own own 2 blood parrot fish, one 7 inches and one 6 inches. a few weeks ago i noticed some small dark spots appearing by the smaller one's head. the fish has since had the dark spot spread up his back.. also his fins are beginning to show the same progressive dark spots, moving outward towards the tip of the fin. The larger one shows no signs of change. Any thoughts?

I bought a cockatiel a week ago tomorrow. She is 4 months old and I am very worried about her. First she seems to be getting meaner everyday. She bites me but I don't pull away and she don't like to come out of her cage. I talk to her in a soft tone and I am very affectionate with her but she is not the same way with me. Another thing that worries me is that she don't whistle or play with any toys that I place in her cage. I know that your supposed to be patient and your also supposed to give it time. My question is when should I start looking to see some kind of difference in her and is it possible that she will never play with toys or whistle? Is it normal for this not to happen. I want her to be happy I don't want her to be miserable and sad. I feel like she hates me. :| Shes so cute and I love her already. I just think I should see a little difference by now. LIke she should be a little nicer by now not meaner. HELP! Only good thing is she has a very healthy appetite.

Ok I have a 6 year old YNA, It lunges at me, Bites me, draws blood, I have been working on stick training but it attacks the stick! It shows display and fans its tail. This bird is a rescue and I have no idea of its past. It is also teratorial of the cage. Some one give me a hint on how to handle this bird. I dont want to use water guns as I have a feeling it has been abused in the past and I also get the feeling that it was in a house with children as well. I was told not to use gloves but that is the only way I feel comfortable touching this bird. Should I disreguard that advice or what?

I ordered some button quail eggs recently and I have read that you should mist them the day before they hatch. When I hatch duck eggs I mist them every day in the morning until a few days before they hatch, when I step up the misting to 3 times a day. Some sites don't even mention misting the button quail eggs. Why is different for button quail eggs?

My lovebird is not feeling well, he's feeling terrible, he's just sitting with all his feather raised and he's so motionless; however, it has some food every now and then. What do I gotta do? I can't get a vet now.

I rescued this bird from a neighborhood cats mouth. It is currently unable to fly. I put it in a spare parrot cage for the time being.

Dear Canary owners,

My girlfriend and I lost our canary this morning. He was our first pet we got together. ;( We are not sure why he died. He didn't seem to show symptons?? We had him for just over 5 years and we got him from a friend when he was about 2 years old therefore, he was about 7 years old. We took good care of him and our female canary very well. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

Who would keep poultry (just hens, not cockerels, unless you live in the middle of nowhere or beside allotments) as pets? Just think of all the fresh eggs, and if you were brave enough, free-range chicken for dinner. (I'd go for eggs, not meat as I'm vegetarian). I hatch poultry chicks and then give them to very good homes and it's fantastic to see the first tiny embryos at 3 days old and then have a fully grown chick hatch less than three weeks later.

I work on the beach and see at least 6 every day in front of the condos waiting for visitors to feed them. Just curious as to where the sleep when not on the beach.

I know he is different than the female tiel, but why doesn't he wash himself in the water I give everyday? Today I sprayed his feet a bit and the female just went for her second wash as I did this. Is he nervous or a dirty birdy? She always seem to clean herself he just does a quarter of what she does. What can I do?

I've had a male parakeet named Ralphy for around two months now. He's been looking a bit lonely so today we went and got a female bird. We bought her home and right when we put their cages together he watched her. When we put the birds in the same cage he walked in front of her and puffed up his feathers and kept cleaning them. Then for another hour or so they just stood in front of eachother and watched one another. She finally went over to eat food when he followed her. The rest of the night he kept following her all around. She didn't think much of it but every once in a while opens up her beak at him but doesn't bite him or anything. Can someone tell me what that means?
