My double yellow headed amazon only like women, and when he sees another woman he would go near the new girl and regurgitate and try to climb on her. Then if i try to pick him up, he would bite me, which he doesn't usually do.

Hey guys,

well this budgie is truly amazing she was being beaten up by her partner and other breeding budgies in my avory. When i saw her she had one day old chicks. and blood comeing from her face where she was being pecked. So i immediatly removed her from the avory into a big cage i have. So she was on her own beaten up with 2 chicks.

i got told even healthy birds, if they are left on there own with chicks will probably die, from starvation or leave the chicks.

so i kept feeding the budgie and giving her clean water. And today i walk into the avory to this.

it brung a tear to my eyes,

so is there any food suppliments i should give the mum because of all her hard work. and to get her back to full health

i am very desperate at this time, i live in NH -USA.. i have just
been informed from my vet that she is 90 percent sure my lovebird has a obstruction to his
trachea..she didnt find anything on exray but hearing my bird breath she thinks so, just in case she has him on a antinflammatory, antibiotic and antifungal, but my ruby has been eating and drinking just fine along with normal stools.. she is not equipped to handle the problem, due to lack of proper scope, and also says its a risky operation.. please help me, i dont
know were to turn. she said he could die... i need any help locating someone
who knows how to perform this procedure..or if there is a vet reading this maybe he knows of another way to go about this or maybe it could be something different, please if you can help , email me at proudparront@verizon.net. please pray for ruby. thank you kindly..Jennie

I have a parakeet who once belonged to a friend of mine. She got scaly face while she was still in my friend's possesion. Unfortunately, by the time we figured out what it was, her face was already horribly disfigured. She now bears what look like scars all around her beak and her cere. The trouble is that it seems like the mites have never gone away- I continue to have to Vaseline her face after almost four years. It will seem like it's gone, but then it comes back a month or so later. Luckily, my male hasn't contracted the mites (I know scaly face isn't contagious). Is there anything else to do for scaly face? Something to do so she doesn't look quite so bad? All the vets have said have been the Vaseline treatment.

Has anyone ever heard of having black-capped chickadees as pets? I mean in cages and riding around on your finger and things like pets do. I've seen pictures of them on people's fingers eating seed, but they were not domestic.

I've always had parakeets, but black-capped chickadees have always been my favorite. I was just wondering if that was something that was done...

This evening my cockatiel (Smokey) has started/leaning forward and resting with a twisted body so that one eye is looking at the ceiling and the other at the floor. He's seems to be more sleepy / lethargic than usual. His nostrils are clear, no discharge or anything. Will be taking him to get checked over by a vet tomorrow, but dose anyone now what his wrong with him, and if there is anything I can do for him this evening until I can get him to see a vet? My Mother has had a viral infection with sore throat and vomiting lat few days, is it possible this has been passed onto Smokey. Smokey shares his cage with another cockatiel (Misty), Misty seems okay, although he may be a little lethargic.

I live in So. Calif and have recently become interested in bird feeding. I have feeders for thistle that finches like and have heard that the Goldfinch (vs the common Housefinch) can eat upside down. There are feeders that accomodate this trait just for the Goldfinch without attracting the Housefinch. Does the Goldfinch range include So. Calif and will this special feeder induce them to feed? Finally, what is it about the Goldfinch that enables it to eat upside down while the other finches cannot?

I had two well bonded parakeets but one died last night and I went and got her three friends (Cage is huge and figured that she would tear just one up, figured the more the merrier). She is a bit teritorial but seems to be allowing them to co-habitate with her, other than the occasional nip (which she gave her old companion as well). Is there anything that I can do to ease the transition? Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks

I got my parakeet 3 days ago today. All it does is sit on its perch all day long. Doesn't move unless u stick your hand in, then it just flips out. It hasn't ate since I got it or drank. I checked food over and over for hulls. Nothing, it hasn't touched anything? Could it be that its lonely and needs another bird? I even put a mirror in and it still doesn't do anything. Its one eye closes a and stays stays shut for like a second before opening it. I called the pet store, they said it sounds like a respitory infection. I dont know. Im frustrated. Thinking of taking it back. Any information would help. It doesnt make a sound either.

I dont know if it is just me but I feel like my birds are aiming for me. When they fly in my room they fly a few inches away from my face and i dont know what to do. At first I I denied it because I wasn't sure. But when I am eating they fly over me all the time. Sometimes when i am leaving they fly to me, and when I am lying on my bed they fly reckless like they are about to hit me. I was just wondering does anyone have these experience??

I have Nanday/Jenday Conure mix. I love my bird. He/She is my companion. He is very sweet as long as I mind him! I sing songs to him, buy him special surprises, have meals together etc. I don't have a large social life, but I get out some.....SQUAWK!

I have a 4 year old Blue and Gold Macaw, he's perfectly healthy, so that's not what this question is about. When I talk to my parrot and he's looking at me and paying close attention, his pupils change size often. When I say words he understands, his pupils get really small. It's really weird to watch. I was just wondering why parrot pupils change size so often.
