This evening my cockatiel (Smokey) has started/leaning forward and resting with a twisted body so that one eye is looking at the ceiling and the other at the floor. He's seems to be more sleepy / lethargic than usual. His nostrils are clear, no discharge or anything. Will be taking him to get checked over by a vet tomorrow, but dose anyone now what his wrong with him, and if there is anything I can do for him this evening until I can get him to see a vet? My Mother has had a viral infection with sore throat and vomiting lat few days, is it possible this has been passed onto Smokey. Smokey shares his cage with another cockatiel (Misty), Misty seems okay, although he may be a little lethargic.

Please, take them both to the vet and have a full work up done. Cultures and blood work.

It sounds like a bird infection to me too. Normally, we cannot pass illnesses back and forth to our birds, or vica versa, so it is just a coincidence that your birds and mom are sick at the same time.

Until morning, make sure that they stay warm, 85 degrees and out of drafts. You can give them unflavored pedialyte to drink. Make sure that the one that is on the floor drinks, even if you have to put it drop by drop in his mouth. He can dehydrate by morning.

You can also give orange or cherry juice to them to drink, but I've had the best results with the pedialyte since it is clear. Don't add anything else to their water without clearing it through your vet. Also, make sure that you have the vet teach you how to give any medications to your bird. It is difficult, but really works!

I hope they get better soon!

flow come across a hollow in the backyard and stuff $seventy 5 in it and additionally you gets a similar outcomes. the reason that they do no longer checklist birds beside dogs and cats is using the fact it takes incredibly expert preparation for avian vets. i think of that in case you will possibly purchase a reliable Cockatiel preparation manual you would be waiting to preserve any issues which you will stumble upon with a cockatiel. I incredibly have saved over sixty inventory birds for ten years. I incredibly have under no circumstances had a ill chicken. the two this is blind good fortune or Cockatiels are no longer in possibility of ailment. I incredibly have got here across that in case you will practice it to devour human beings nutrition (culmination/greens) that it would be healthful and stay for years. I had a 29 year previous cockatiel. So be arranged to bypass it directly to a sibling or chum once you flow to varsity.
