Do you have to be saying the same word over and over yourself while you're next to him? Or do you use a tape recorder and still be there? Does the room have to be dark or does he need to see you?

So we got the Green male Parakeet for her....he obviously did the trick because they bonded within 3 weeks and now they are fixing up the love shack (nesting box) and have been doing the humpy hump for a few days now.

Now for the question....we have been calling him "Limon" (lee-moh-n)....just testing the waters to see if any better ideas are out there. Any name ideas?

Here is a link to a pic to them... The Male is the Green and Bonnie is Lilac

I've always tried to pet him, but he always flies away and causes a racket. I whistle to him, and talk to him sometimes, I even play my clarinet next to him, but he is still always afraid of me, even if I come near him.

I have a parakeet that sometimes bobs his head up and down. Also, when he makes little sounds, like not a chirp! loudly, but little sounds, what does this mean? Is he happy? Or sad?

My male parakeet's mate died a month ago, and now I feel sorry for him, because he is all alone. I want to get him a new one, but I don't know what color she should be. He is green, yellow, and black.

I have a parakeet and a lovebird. My parakeet doesn't really like to play with anything but the expensive bell toys, but my lovebird will play with anything. My parakeet does love to chew on my baskets which I hate. Is there anything close to a basket that he will like that he can chew on? He doesn't like bird chew toys.

This bird looked like the size of a large jay or a rook. It had a base colour of rust with bright greeny blue band on the wings and a touch on the head. Any ornathologists out there? Could someone point me in the direction of even a helpful web site.

stated that my bird is actually a parrot. I don't know, maybe it is a parrot. How can tell what kind of bird this is? I remember having a parakeet as a child and it seems like it had long tail feathers unlike "Beekers" who is sporting what I would call no tail feathers. He makes all kinds of interesting sounds and has multi-colored feathers most of which are grey, some yellow, a little orange. It's beak seems to curve downward. What do you think it is?

He has such sharp claws and I have cuts all over my arms from where he climbs on me. I want to know the best way to clip them and whether a Rainbow Lorikeet can survive with not-so-sharp claws?

my sister's bird is really enoying. she churps all night long and i can't sleep with that. so in the morning when i go to school i am super tired and can't consetrate and my grades are getting low because of that. my sister said "I Love this bird more then anything. i wouldn't do anything to get rid of it or hurt it. and if you guys have a problem with that it is your problem." so i can't really tell my sister that the bird needs to either go in her room or go away somewhere else out of country lol. so if someone knows what i should do please tell me cause it is either 'havea your sister get really mad at you and never talk to you again, or go live somewhere else without the bird.'

please help.............

I put a mirror in the cage with my Budgie, to cut down on his lonliness. (I"m away from home a lot, lately) Since I've put the mirror in, he's become very aggressive towards me, even biting me when I come near the cage or enter it. Can birds develop too strong of an attachment to their mirrors? Should I remove the mirror when I am home so that my bird and I can re-bond? Any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
