Yes, in the US all wild birds are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. It is even illegal to be in possession of a wild birds feathers....let alone the bird itself. Most countries have similar laws. Wild birds should be kept in the wild. In certain circumstances Hawks can be owned....if you are a falconer. Even then, these birds are not usually taken directly out of the wild but obtained from a rehab.

In order to legally keep a hawk as a pet you need to becaome a falconer and get the proper permits through fish and game.

Christie D is right you need a permit and some peeps have to come over and make ur what evea ur putting ur bird i safe and big
but you should not just get one fro a pet store ur somthign!
( du they even sell them @ pet stores?)
