Do you have to be saying the same word over and over yourself while you're next to him? Or do you use a tape recorder and still be there? Does the room have to be dark or does he need to see you?

What you want to do, is keep them covered in the morning. You want to keep them covered so they dont have the outside world to distract them. ....For about a half hour, say the same word over and over again, and VERY slowly. Keets learn the best when their mind is fresh, thats why they tell you to do it then. Hello is a word that is kinda hard for them. They pick up words like Pretty easier...t's and K's are much easier than a H. You COULD put a recording up, but its human interaction that is better for them. It doesnt have to be dark, but make it so they cant see very well so they dont get distracted. Ive done this with my keets, and it seems to work. However, ALL keets will not talk. Males talk mostly, and sometimes even they dont do it. Remember it will take a lot of time and paitence. Once they have learned the first word, it will be easier for them to pick up other words.

i tried 2 train my parakeet 2 talk but it gets rlly annoying when u have 2 repeat the same words. but i dont think it will make a differenc if u leave a atpe recorder or if ur saying it in person. bcuz f they hear a word over nd over again they will eventually start repeating it.

Not all keets are talkers, and those few that are will be males only. I've had parakeets for 25 years - only once did I have a little treasure that could pick up speech. The little beggar imitates the cat!

Good luck!

Repition is the key. Say a world like "Hello" over and over untill the bird picks up the habit. I suggest u use one word or a small phrase like "Pretty Bird". You need to be close to the bird, just i believe u dont have to be seen just heard.

you need to actually repeat the word to him. they need to be able to see you so that they can connect the word with you and your voice.
