My male parakeet's mate died a month ago, and now I feel sorry for him, because he is all alone. I want to get him a new one, but I don't know what color she should be. He is green, yellow, and black.

It really doesn't matter what color you get. When you go to where ever you get your bird look for the most lively one. Then talk to the bird and see if any seem interested to you when you talk. Everyone has their own preference to what color of parakeet they like.

I suggest just going to the store/breeder and just looking at the birds and picking out the bird with the most personality. If you just go for the color you could get a dull bird that could be sickly.

Your bird is green and yellow. You could find one with energy that is all yellow. You could also find one that is the green and black stripped. I am partial to white parakeets with a little blue on the belly.

You could go completely different from the green and yellow and get a blue bird. I have saw a female parakeet that was like a pastel tye-dye bird. It had blue, yellow, green, and a pink color in it. It was the most beautiful bird. If I wasn't there to get a male I would have gotten that bird. I have always wanted to get one of those pure yellow parakeets also and name it Woodstock.

I think when you go to get the bird you are going to see one and you are going to fall in love with it and know it is the one.

I have an aqua-blue parakeet. He is very beautiful. You could try getting an aqua-blue parakeet. Remember, though, that color of the skin (in this case, feathers) does not matter. It matters how the parakeet is.

Green is a good color. I think you should get a green one with a little bit of red.

prefrably a Pink shouldered one, they make lovely pets and are typically more easier tame than the turquoise shouldered parakeet.
