Budgies tamed or not can give a tough and painful bite!
That is their main defense, However to get bitten you have to be restraining them in some way. They do not hop on your hand and bite you out of spite. I have 400 pairs of budgies in my aviaries and majority of them are very social. They will sit on my shoulders and chirp when I change the water or add feed to the bins and check the nest boxes.
They can be trained to talk and even do tricks, I don;t have the time for the teaching of tricks ..like lie and roll, or play dead these days but it can be done with patience.
Pet shop birds are not always the better birds to get to train, they are usually the rejects of litters, runts, deformed legs or some ailments. Watch your local paper for breeders advertising birds for sale. You can get pairs, rather than a single or two from the same clutch.

Any bird can hurt when they bite. You want to try and get a hand fed bird from a breeder. If that's not possible go to a pet shop and look for a young Budgie. If you look at the top of it's head you will see a few black lines. The more bars the bird has the younger it is. Then you have to make the decision weather you want it's wings clipped. If you get them done it will be easier to train. If you bird is tame or not it still can bite. If it does don't show fear or it will keep biting. Just remember that birds do have their good and bad moods.

Hah, So you want to know about bit ting? Yes they do bite hard! But they only bite if someone handles them hard first or some other bad experience was bad for them I have raised and taken in lots of birds in the last 25 year and have never NEVER had a bird that I could not pet.It just takes the right attitude and a world if patience and lots of loving attention
Back to getting a baby from a pet store..My advice is to go to the store and get to know the people first and see how they treat the pets especially the birds. Then get to know how much taming has or has not been done.
The younger the bird the easier to tame..Hah. and yes the less they bite, oh by the way never jerk your hand or finger away if it bites because each time you do if makes it bite more..

I would like 2 say that i have 2 parakeets, and have had them for 7 years now. most any animal can be tamed, but you have to work with them. such as small animals, they fear larger ones, and that is what they see when they see us. a large animal. you have to be kind, to let the birds know that they are not on your menu. as for training, there are 2 ways, both of which work, but one is more traumatizing then the other. I suggest taking the slower route, and having training on a steady schedule so they know, at that time, they can expect a human hand. don't mistreat the bird(s) or whatever progress you have made will be ruined, other than that, search online for more info on "training budgies"

well yeah they can be tames everybird can be tamed just needs time. some more that others.its very good that you have looked for breeders and looked at rescues very smart .
they can bite hard, but generally they dont bite to hard. but when or if they do bite make sure you dont yell out"ouch" or whatever you say when you get hurt. haha they bite alot of the time for a reaction and if you have a reacitcion everytime it bites then it will keep doing it. when oit bites just walk out of the room for a few minutes them return birds hate you ignoring them so after a while he/she will not bite and be naughty as much.
dont forget to get its wings clips before you bring it home. your local petshop should clip wings also. it helps so much with training and makes it alot safer, and the bird will rely on you more and it will become tamer faster.
try and get it eaten treats out of your hand cause thats great to coax them onto your hand to teach step up.
alright
hope i helped :)

Parakeet's are no longer a sort of parrot and specific you may tame them. between the main suitable way is to confirm their wings are clipped, so whilst they fly, they glide to the floor. have self belief it or no longer, this differences the whole approach of the chook. Now they choose so which you would be able to get from factor a to point b. In different words, they might choose you to get them to their cage the place their food and water is. it relatively is a biggie. you will no longer have self belief how lots a chook differences whilst their wings are clipped. as quickly as you have worked with them and are starting to be their have confidence, artwork on one command at a time. Like up up. whilst they have have been on condition that down, so some thing else. Set a purpose. whilst they're going to come to you walking on the floor on command, then you definately can enable them to have their flight feathers back. then you definately can start up engaged on them flying to you on command. they're relaxing birds and this is stable to purely have one. this way it is going to bond to you and not the different chook. additionally, reflect's are a huge no no. Then they bond to themselves. The men seem swifter beginners and that they communicate, the ladies human beings do no longer. men have a blue sier (nostril) and the ladies human beings could have something from crimson to brown sires. wish this replaced into powerful.

Parakeets can bite, of course, but they're so small, it's not all that big a deal. I have had a number of parakeets down the years, and I found that if you clip their flight feathers initially, they're easier to handle. Once they realize that you're not going to harm them, they generally settle down very nicely, so that by the time their flight feathers moult and grow back, your parakeet will be at ease with you.

I have never had much trouble taming my parakeet. He used to bite, but it was never hard. It was like he was just trying to communicate rather than inflict pain.

They use their beaks like we use our hands - to communicate. the bites can't really hurt. They are too small. And usually if they do bite it's a nibble not too haard. They can be trained to be great companions. In a month you'd see a difference. I'm sure you could train one to not bite you.
