1. First check every day that there is clean food and water.
2.(only if you have more than 2 finches) Check that the other birds don't get near the mom and dad bird and start to fight.
3. Check that the dad bird is giving the mom bird food and also do this when the bird hatches check that he also gives a little bit to the baby bird.
4. IMPORTANT!!! Check that the mom doesn't leave the baby to long or it might die of cold.
5. VERY IMPORTANT Don't get wet the mom and dad bird if this happens try to get them dry because if they get wet they could stop feeding the baby birds and if the eggs are still there they will just leave them there if the eggs get wet by either the mom or dad bird.

I hope this easy steps could help you and your finches out.

The egg was fertilized wasn't it. You didn't mention the dad. If it wasn't it's just an egg, but if it was you'll need a kinda bird house that the mother can sit on the egg and keep it warm. Make sure you have a covered bird house some birds are piticular. Before the baby hatches consult your vet for proper care. But the mother will do most of the work.

If there was no male finch in the cage then you need to take the egg out of the cage because the egg was never fertilized so there is no baby.

If you have a boy in the cage then you will have babies. If you do have a male then put in extra food. Seed and pellets and commerical egg food. I also like to put in millet seed. Then leave the birds alone.

Good luck!

make sure that the mate is bringing her food cause she wont leave her eggs to get food and will starve herself to death or just put the food and water extra close to the nest and good luck with your babies
