I had a female cockatiel that kept on doing that. Apparently they do it when they are 'horny' excuse the expression. maybe the petshop sold you a girl by mistake but it is healthy for the cockatiel to do it!! am not sure though whether it applys to both males and females.

There is no problem, that is normal behavior for a female cockatiel. I have owned over several females and they only do that when they want to breed. Usually if it has a mate the male will go on to her back with that display.
The shop you bought it from lied to you, you can't tell gender unless it's mature or had a dna test done at that age.

The only way to dicourage it would be to give her more sleep time and try not to pet her, that encourages her. Like cover her cage for 10 hours instead of less.^^

I did the exact thing that you are doing right now when I got my baby male. This is all i can do to make sure you know what i mean but he is horny. We have a female in tour cage and they do that together evrey single day there is nothing that you can really do to stop it fron doing that but the male does that and the female sings and jumps him.

The only thing i have read about is spaying them with water but don't do that because they like getting wet and that will encourage him!!!

At 6 months old cockatiels can breed and this is courtship behaviour. My own bird did it at around the same age but stopped after a few months.

IN my opinion it erm.. Wants to breed. Take a look at the bird's featues, or look at a guide on the internet to find out if it's really a girl, because I think it may be
