They gotta eat, too. What have you got against feeding hawks?
You're trying to play God, and this is the reality of nature. Feed the birds. They're aware the hawks are around, and they're willing to take their chances. In all, you're supporting the population of all of the species through the winter, including the hawks.

If you have a pitch up tent or something, maybe get a net so the hawks can't get in. I know it's probably expensive to get outdoor protection, so maybe you should try to feed your birds near a window. Just make sure to keep your precious birds safe.

Fortitudi pretty well summed it up. I feed the birds in my back yard too and my cat thinks I baiting them for him, he gets a few and i hate it but he's only doing what cats do so I try to live with it.
