If you haven't yet, please take your parrot to a certified avian vet. He or she can better examine your bird and determine the cause of your bird's irritation, and prescribe bird-safe medicines.

For example, it could be dry skin (and most human lotions are toxic, so do NOT try them), or it could be sore feet from sitting on hard perches (rope perches are nice), or it could be gout from kidney problems (and oral medicines are required), or it could be a billion other things that we can't diagnose over the internet.

Link below to find a certified avain vet. If there isn't a certified one near you, then make sure you get a vet that regularly sees birds.

Hi there. From what I can gather, you might have a case of scaly leg which can also occur on the feet. These are mites that burrow in the skin in that area of the bird. An old method to get rid of these pests is rubbing olive oil on the legs and feet to smother the mites. After 14 days, all should be well and the future mites from hatched eggs will also be taken care of. Vets also have prescription medications for this also. May things get better soon.

Go to your local pet store and see if they have any vitamin supplements for birds feet and skin. Administer these to your bird in her food. They will help reduce the dryness. If your local pet store doesn't carry any, try ordering some from one of these sites. I put a few different products on the web page list because I wasn't sure exactly what the problem was.

if it is dry or cold your bird will get dry just like you i would try a good misting every day and when my birds feet were chaped i put a very small amount of vasaline on her feet but watch that they dont eat it!

if you a seriously concerned i would check with an avian vet.

First off are you using concrete perches exclusively? the best scenario for a bird is to have several options of width and texture in perches.

I would contact my Avian Vet about your concerns & what products you may use that are bird safe

sandpaper perches are bad
if you have any in the cage, take them out
even if they file her nails

i have a parakeet
the ideal parakeet perch is on a human finger
because it is sturdy but cushy
i used quilt batting and fabric to make a similar type seat on one of his existing perches
he really likes it

Spend more time with her. She is lonely. Go to a pet shop and get a lotion, as well.

go to your vet, or go to http://www.animalplanet.com and look up bird diseases, it could be a sickness

try misting the bird with water

it could also be that your bird wants attention!
