My birds layed four eggs and they have been sitting on them since 15 days (when the first 1 was laid). Also, their 2 babies, who are still not weaned (around 7 weeks) are with them in the cage and the babies sometimes go in the nestbox too. Anyways, the parents are both outside of the nestbox w/ their kids and they haven't been sitting on them for over 3 hours now. What is the reason behind this?

I have also been checking the eggs everyday and I candle them everyday too.

The eggs are fertile and they should hatch in about 5 days. When I touched the eggs, they weren't warm or cold, just normal.

It's possible they may have abandoned the eggs to raise the chicks that have hatched.

Another possibility is the eggs are very close to hatching or are too warm?

Hold a torch up behind the egg to see if you can see the chick inside. It will give you an indication of how far developed they are.

If the eggs are cold - they have definately been abandonded and you should remove them.

First off if the eggs are fertile which they probably are if they have already had babies they will hatch 22 to 28 days after the last egg is laid. Second to let me breed one after another like that is not good for them they should at least have a months break after the babies are took from them. Are you hand feeding them? If you are you should pull them out of the cage from the parents and put them in the other. If the parents are more concentrated on the live babies they will not tend to the eggs as much as they should. I breed cockatiels and I recommend if you are hand feeding them for hand tamed tiels to take them away from the nest at 2 weeks old and put them in a brooder and take the nest box off for a month at the minimum.

This is normal behaviour she is protecting her eggs ,unless you have a large cage or an aviary I can't see much chance of her hatching her eggs the male is protecting his mate and the eggs leave the eggs for at least 18 days if she is sitting them close if fertile they will hatch if they are not fertile the hen will leave them before this. If you take them before she will only lay more ,by sitting she is having a rest and it will help to build her strength back up make sure she hasplenty of Cuttle fish bone and a Mineral block to replace calcium which she will lose in egg production

Maybe the parent birds, in their wisdom, know that perhaps the eggs are no good for hatching now.
