Budgies, when they are breeding, will lay eggs every second day until they have a clutch of six. They do not need nesting materials for the nesting box, but I'd recommend using sawdust to line the bottom. This will keep it cleaner when the babies hatch (they have to poo somewhere) and make it easier to clean out the box.

The paper will not do anything to the bird. Our bet budgie loves to chew the newspaper while you are reading it. Like all parrots, budgies like to chew anything.

Do you know how to tell the difference between males and females? If you don't, the males have blue ceres (nostrils) and the females have brown ceres. Pied males rarely colour up and keep their baby coloured ceres.

If your big bummed birds are female they may be ready to lay eggs, but if nothing happens within a week, then they may have a growth. In this case you may either need to take them to a vet or euthanize them yourself. Make sure there are no eggs in the nesting boxes, on the ground or in seed containers (sometimes they like that sort of place, don't know why) before you decide that they have a problem.

I have a bird that right now has 4 eggs and 1 new born baby. The bird gets in 1 specific place and stays there. If your bird looks weak I suggest it to go to the vet. If it bites every other bird that gets near it it will start to squeak different and start to fight with the other bird.

I still think something is wrong. It takes less than 24 hours for my cockatiel to form and lay an egg. Take your birds to an avian vet please. If they are eggbound, they will die.

DO NOT try to treat them yourself. You have no idea what is wrong without a PROFESSIONAL looking at your birds. The internet is not a substitute for vetrinary care.
