1) Even though the recommended dietary intake for carbs is 55 to 60 percent of the daily caloric intake, why do carbs account for less than 3 percent of our total body weight?

Please explain. Question for Anatomy.

Also here is another question if you could answer this it would be great as well. :]

2) You are interested in losing weight so you decide to eliminate your intake of fats completely. You opt for a fat substitute such as Olestra, which contains compounds that cannot be used by the body. Why might this decision be detrimental to you?

THANK YOU VERY MUCH. :]

i'll choose best answer.

hey ppl:

I wanna be a professional cricketer so I have relly made a commitment to go to the gym and lift weights and cardio as well to lose weight. I am about 5-10 and look like 6 feet when wearing shoes and I weigh like 80kgs so I don't look like obese or really chubby and girls still like me and stuff but I wanna lose this fat from me and get a flat stomach-possibly abs?? SO i have have been doing cardio like running on the treadmill for 10-15 minutes and then bike and basically try to burn 500 calories. I normally set te exercise to burn about 200 calories for bike or running and combine them to get 500 plus-and I also life weights as well-

So I wanna know when will I see like visible RESULTs where my stomach goes down and I can see VEINS in my muscles and stuff and my face becomes smaller. HOW LONG PPL??its driving me nuts-I am 18 and I go to the gym ranging from 45 minutes to 3 hours. ANd i try to eat healthy like chikcen sandwiches(chicken breast)Tips on using gym if any??

Ok, I am not an idiot lets get that stright right now. I was looking at pictures from 2005 and noticed how much thinner they were. I have been on first shift now for a little over a year. Before that my husband was cooking for the kids for oh about 5 years. Now granted I know they grow and all that. But I can see it around there faces and necks and arms...ect. Now I know that it didn't happen overnight. But, when the kids don't like healthy food what do you do??? I force them all to go outside and play. I go out with them even from time to time. But, I am a busy Mom and have so much to do. If there is a web site or book or something that will help me shape up my family with the growing pant sizes please let me know.

Most people I know are on diets. And I'm also a little chunky. I'm not like huge, but I could stand to lose 15 or 20 pounds. Anyway, it always looks SO EASY for them to lose 2 pounds a week and keep it ALL off, then be ready to go for the next week. I am lucky to lose 1 pound or two, then no matter how hard I try, I always gain at least a pound of it back over the weekend. Another annoying thing is that they don't exercise either (neither to do I. I tried stretching and stuff but I only ended up adding in inch to my thighs).... HOW can I lose weight (2 pounds a week) and keep it off for the next week?? PLEASE don't tell me about exercising or diet pills. I don't have any time whatsoever, and I diet pills are bad for you. I don't care how else I do it. I just want it off.

I'm in physiotherapy for patella dislocation due to patella alta. I'm also working on my really tight hamstrings.
The physiotherapist has given me a hamstring exercise to do at home, so I can stretch them.
However, I am finding it so painful that I cry. Should I stop?

The yolk is what has all the cholesterol, right? I ate 5 egg whites & threw the yolks away & it looked equivalent to 2 whole eggs. Is that still harmful?

The only time that I am able to exercise is in the morning but I have been having such a hard time getting up, I just cant seem to do it no matter how hard I try. I set my alarm clock and I tell myself that I am going to get up in the morning but I never do. I use to be able to get up right away but now I cant. I really am one of those people that must exerice because I have a very slow metabolism so I must. If you have any tips to help me get up in the morning so I can run that would be great. Thank you.

What gets you up in the morning to exercise?

Hiya.
I'm a 32 year old woman. I weigh about 11.5 stone and I'm only 5 ft tall.
The weight has crept on over the last few years. I've had a couple of kids and I'm happy in life.
Problem is that although I walk along way to school twice a day, with a two year old on my back and generally pushing a double buggy with kids in as well (I'm a childminder), I go to the gym twice a week and I watch what I eat relatively well and I don't drink alcohol excessively, I cannot lose weight.
I'm quite flabby and although my general stamina and fitness is pretty good cos I can walk for miles, I can't shift the weight.
I'm wondering if I go to the doctor, whether they'd put me on some tablets to help? Or if anyone can suggest something else I'd be really grateful.
It's starting to annoy me now. I work really hard but it just isn't happening.
Please advise.
Many thanks.
A desperate JuJu

My daughter went to the doctors as she wasn't very well, and she was told her IBM score says she's obese..
She's 17 years old
10 stone 5 lbs
Perfect fit in size 14 clothes
5'4
and a 34 D chest.
Is there no such thing as healthy these days?
And what do you all think? Does she need to lose weight in your opinion.

I was eating black beans but they gave me tooooo much gas so I switched to a mix of oats & 100% whole wheat bread. The thing is I definitely saw good results from eating the beans & I havent with the oats & bread. The goal btw is muscle & weight gain.
