Emily, you are in energy/calorie deficit mode. Your bagel meal was not bad but your body probably going to try to trick you into eating more than you need to eat because you started so late.

The two things you need to do right now is plan out your meals for the rest of the day based on what time you plan on going to sleep. Focus on complex carbohydrate foods such as bean, whole grains and vegetables. Also lean meats. AVOID HIGH FAT or HIGH SUGAR food which will reinforce the overeating mechanism you are currently fighting. You may end up staying up later to eat an additional meal. Just make sure it's light and low fat/sugar.

Get back on track tomorrow. Don't sweat the small stuff! Consider this your skip day and get back on track tomorrow.

Good Luck.

it's only a bagel, don't get too worked up!
ok, well average calories for a bagel is 220
a can of tuna - 130
mayo - 100 per tablespoon
i'm not sure what velveta cheese is but i'd add an extra 100 for it seeing as cheddar cheese is 100 calories for a handful
total - probably around 500 calories, 600 MAX
if you eat what i consider a large dinner (so long as it's healthy food - rice - lean meats/fish - veggies etc) of 600 calories that still only totals to 1200 ish. you're doing well don't worry!

I don't count calories but try to eat vegetables most of the time. Tuna is good as is cheese for protein, but in a big salad would be more satisfying and give you more fiber. lots of raw onions keep away colds too. I'm getting slimmer and look forward to these salads since I can vary the ingrediants.

if you are trying to lose body fat then you should avoid all processed carbohydrates. this means any bagels, bread, crackers, cookies, etc. it doesn't matter how low calorie the manufacturer of them claims they are. these foods are not good for the body and definetly not blood sugar levels.

the key to reducing body fat is by controlling insulin. the key to controlling insulin is by consuming the right foods in sufficient quantity. the tuna was an excellent choice for protein the bagel was not, is processed. you want to consume only all natural carbohydrates this means, oatmeal, beans, lentils, peas, etc. foods that are naturally occurring grown in the soil and not man made in a factory.
