But then the way I see it is .. NO ONE I KNOW has done this so it would be diff.. So What do you think???

I want ivory for myself, and bridesmaids in a torquoise colour, and silver incorporated aswell. He wants canary yellow monaros as the wedding cars - which obviously clashes! I was thinking i could have a orange or something else in the flowers or change the bridesmaids dress colour which i dont really want to do!

We're getting married in 2 weeks and trying to iron out tipping issues. Any advice on how much to tip (if at all) each vendor/contract would be much appreciated:

Photographer
Wedding cake (for delivery - we do pay a delivery fee)
DJ
String quartet
Pastor
Bartenders (we pay per person per hour + 18% gratuity - tip above and beyond?)
Caterer (we pay 18% gratuity - tip above and beyond?)
Florist

We are also going to provide dinner for the photographer and DJ. Is this usually what is done? Thanks in advance!

I am having a destination wedding in Hawaii and was thinking instead of the traditional reception, we could all go to a Luau. Would you as guest think this is cheap way to go or would you feel cheated in any way knowing that you traveled all that way for a luau? My fiance and i just arent into the whole dancing and cake cutting stuff, this is more our style.

I guess that I need to ask this question again, because so many people got hung up on the phrasing of an engagement ring as an "investment". (Thank you to those who did get the point the first time around.)

Obviously, it's not a home...but it is something that lasts much longer than the whole wedding/reception ordeal (a few hours)...and diamonds never depreciate in value (like real estate). They are something that can be passed down to your children/grandchildren.

My question was: Is there anyone else out there that believes the engagement ring should cost more than the wedding/reception?

So I would like to get married in a quick fast wedding at the civil court in los angeles. i know there are a few to choose from. i was wondering how they go about performing the actual ceremony? Is it just at some desk and they just sware you in or something? Thats what im picturing. This isn't the route I want, but it will be the route I have to settle for right noq. Trying to get married before my love goes off to Iraq. Please share your experiences.

Also, do they give the the official wedding certificate the same day? or do you get it in the mail or do you have to come back?

So I am getting married in two days. Yesterday we had our rehearsal dinner and for the first time our parents met each other.
Well it got really awkward when we discovered that my Dad had previously met my Fiance's mother - in fact they had and affair and she did not tell him that she was having a baby with him and they had not spoken for years.
Well come to find out, my Fiance is that baby. So really he is my half brother.
Now I just learned this and I am mortified, so is he and our parents.
The problem is that I just found out that I am pregnant!
Now I don't know what to do. . . .

my fiance and i are getting married at the courthouse in a private civil ceremony in a few weeks, but we would like to have a reception for friends and family in about a month. some of our friends know we are getting married but we arent telling our families until after the wedding. i have no idea how to invite someone to something like this since it isnt an actual wedding and most of the people that will be invited wont know we are married until afterwards. do we send out invitations, do people bring gifts, is it just kind of like a small party, do we swap vows again in front of everyone, is it like a normal wedding reception w/toasts and all that stuff...? i really have no idea whatsoever of how something like this works and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She chose a low cut gowns for her bridesmaids and she wants them all to look good in them. The wedding is already costing quite a bit. Should I try and not agree to this?

Ok, living in southern Ontario (and being a of a European descent) I heard the average monetary contribution was $200 per couple. This is my brothers' 2nd wedding (so I've already shelled out $250 - 4 yrs ago) and also we're in the wedding party again (so we've already paid for the suit/dresses) we will also add in a child and 2 elderly parents as part of the invite, so I was thinking that after pooling our $ together a total of $350 is not too unreasonable....for those that are curious as to why money and not gifts, they have a house with everything they need so they don't have a need for 12 toasters and 25 mixers...most people appreciate cash...I forgot to mention this wedding has dinner provided for ALL guests but has a cash bar....

Just wondering if anyone else has had difficulty with the site like I have? I tried to make my wedding web page and was unable to view it for almost a week because they couldn't tell me what was wrong with it. I signed up to be on their boards to talk and ask questions, and it's like a 10 step process! It seems like they just can't make anything easy! Bah!

More like a rant than a question, but anyone else have difficulties?

I've found them useful mostly for dress ideas, that's about it. :-(

I am in Texas. I am getting married in a church and not by a JoP. Can you have to have all the paper work in before you get married or do you have to wait until after the wedding? Does it cost anything?

My wedding is not for a year and a half. I'm so excited to be engaged and everything, but i know the planning needs to happen in a timely fashion and it will soon come all together. For now though, what can i do that is "not too soon"? We have already booked the ceremony and reception hall to make sure no one else books the place on the date we want, and we have an appointment at the end of the month for engagement pictures where my fiance propsed, but what else can I do? Plan an Engagment Party? Dress shopping or the girls and I? Favors? Save the Date Magnets? Cakes? Meet with Florists, Photographers, & DJ's? Please let me know any ideas or help? I'm a first time bride-to-be! :) And TOTALLY excited!!!

so my 1st bridesmaid stepped up and volunteered to take her place, she wasn't my 1st or 2nd choice but was quite eager so there she was. Now my best friend and I are ok and I really want to ask her to be my maid of honor again but the 1st bridesmaid has become quite territorial about it so how do I tell her gently that I don't want her as my bridesmaid?

I've been with my boyfriend for 2 years, living together for 6 months. Next month he is taking me to Vegas. I've never been there before. I found out that we are staying at Paris Hotel, in a luxury suite. It's supposed to be a very romantic hotel, and I'm told the top of the Eiffel Tower is a popular place to pop the question. We are in our early 30's and most of our friends are married or engaged now...so I'm wondering if he will ask me. We don't really talk about marriage much - he's kinda old fashioned in that way.

What do you think my chances are of getting engaged?

I am happily married of 4 years, for our fifth year my husband and I are planning to renew our vows in a religious ceremony, since our first time was with the justice of peace. I am very excited, I am looking for any advice on what to do and what not to do, anyone who has done so, I know plenty people have, Just what exactly did you do, and what should be different with the renewal? I only want my siblings, his siblings, parents and first cousins and no children, as our families barely know one another. I have four boys, I just really want them to be there for the ceremony. huh! thank goodness I have about a year to plan...... oh yeah and I am only looking at 35 people to attend.

My fiance and I did not include "+ guest" on invitations to our friends who we know are single in order for us to keep within our budget. But we've received a couple of RSVPs from those single friends who are adding a guest - though they did not specifically write the name of the guest. Any advice (without coming off too mean) on how we can respond to them saying we did not intend for them to bring a guest?

I selected my bridesmaids this past spring when I got engaged and now I want to switch some...is that too cruel? My wedding isn't until May so I still have plenty of time and no one has purchased their dresses yet. My problem is that my maid of honor hasn't helped plan anything, or even offered to help with anything. One of my other friends that I hadn't originally selected to be in the wedding party is helping with everything. Should I change the girls or just leave it as is? I don't want to lose a friend over this. The biggest problem is that my MOH lived 2 minutes away from me when I selected her, and now she lives almost 2.5 hours away. I'm stuck.....any suggestions?

My bf and I have discussed marriage and know we both want it asap. I know from a trusted source that he was planning on proposing at Xmas but isn’t now as he cant afford to buy me a ring. I am not supposed to know this as he apparently wants it to be a surprise but I am not supposed to know anything about this, a mutual friend let it slip to me as she knows how much I wanted it and thought he never would. Anyway the thing is I don’t need a ring that costs alot its what it symbolises that’s whats important to me. I wouldn’t care less if he only spent a tenner on it or got it out of a lucky bag. We are going to give eachother a figure that we cant go over for buying xmas presents this year so how do I suggest that he could get me a cheap ring and I would love it just as much if not more without him knowing I know what he wanted to get me. Im not sure how to drop the hint without giving the game away.
