Does anyone know of anyone who has had a wedding on the beach/outdoors in the Hampton Roads/Tidewater area?

How do you reserve it? Where was the reception? What about music? Seating?

Thanks!

My friend has been seeing this guy on and off for the past three years. It is clear that they do not need to remain in a relationship or try to make the relationship work. She cheated on him (yes, sexually) and he cheated on her. He treated her like crap and she has said some stuff in return.

She makes excuses for him like: (1) "We've both done each other wrong"; (2) "But he has his life together; he is going to grad school, has a job, is going to get his own place…."; (3) "We were young then" [even though it was only a year ago]; and (4) "We are going to work on putting it all behind us".

The straw that broke the camels back for me was when her grandfather died. She was living with him in New York at the time (in his mother’s house). He refused to pick her up from the station (no he was not busy) and made her ride the train back to his place instead. She was in no shape to ride the train by herself that day....

We have decided to have just a reception, and a small private wedding. But would it be weird for me to wear a party dress to the wedding? And take pictures in that dress? The wedding dress probably would end up in the back of the closet anyway. I still want to be able to have people determine who is the bride and who the bridesmaids are because we will still take pictures as if they were at the wedding ceremony. I want them to wear the same color, but it doesn't really have to be the same dress. Ladies your thoughts on this?

to sit on one side because it's the brides, or another side because it's the grooms. We want to mesh everyone together, whilst having a center isle for me to walk down.

Has anyone ever been to a wedding where this was done? How did they do it?

I often get depressed thinking about the low number of friends I have. What makes me the most nervous is that I worry about how many people I will have in my wedding party vs. how many my fiance will have. He has a ton of friends and I have like 2! This may sound crazy, but I sometimes feel like I shouldn't get married because of the fact that the wedding parties will not be even. Have I lost my mind? I even think about just not having a traditional wedding because of it! I used to have a lot of friends, but one by one everyone has turned on me. I would feel embarassed if all of his friends were upset that they weren't in the wedding simply because I don't have enough bridesmaids to match them up with. How can I get through this? What can I do? I know I can't just meet new people and ask them to be in my wedding!

My fiance & I are working on our engagement announcements. And I was wondering the proper etiquette on who to send them to.
We probably will not be able to invite everyone we know to the wedding (space is limited). Is it improper to send them the engagement announcements?
We were hoping to note when the wedding is planned for in the announcement (like a really early save-the-date, especially for our out of the country family members) - - should we not include this if we send to those that will not be invited to the wedding?

Some women from a church that my future mother in law used to work at have decided to throw me a bridal shower. This is very awkward for me first of all because I don't even KNOW these women. Our budget is tight and we are paying for the wedding and we don't want to pay for meals for people we don't know or love. Do we have to invite them since they are throwing me a shower and buying us gifts?

Sorry if this is long.

One of my very close friends is getting married this upcoming summer. We recently graduated college in May 2007 and got jobs in cities about 1.5 hours from one another. We have both been rather busy starting our careers and getting settled, but talk on the phone and e-mail regularly and plan visits every 2-3 months. I was the first person after family that she called when she returned from Greece with her new fiance. We were sorority sisters in college and spent a great deal of time together and were extremely close.

I would say that her closest friends in college were two different groups of three girls. Our 'groups' liked one another a great deal and often went out together as a larger group of girls, but we were closest to the other girls within our smaller groups.

I remember talking to my friend about her wedding and she told me that she would like to informally ask me to be a bridesmaid, and of course, I agreed.

For food we are having a buffet table, so its not like the waiters need to know where people are sitting to bring them the food they ordered or anything...Are there any other purposes in having a seating chart?

There will be about 60-70 guests and I would prefer to just let them sit wherever they want.

Hi! I'm having my rehersal dinner at my parents house. I'm looking for ideas on themes, or food, anything to make it special, but not overly expensive. I thought of doing chinese food because my fiancee and I met at a chinese food place. Any thoughts are appreciated!

So, this past weekend I went to go visit my fiance's parents. This trip was meant to just be a time where they could gte to know me and my 2-year-old boy. Also, My fiance's dad is our minister for the wedding (he also married both of my fiance's sisters). This weekend, however, ended up being a nightmare. His dad read us the ceremony he prepared without us, and it included about 5 passages from the bible that he beleives in, but I dont. (note: I am Catholic, and their family is Born-Agains) So now, because the ceremony is suppose to be in my parents backyard, my dad is furious about the passages (stuff about a helphand? and man is higher than woman???). Finally, I just asked my fiance if he could tell his dad to eliminate all passages he had, and that him and I should look for them ourselves, to find some that better describe us. Did I do the right thing? Anyone have any other suggestions for what I could do? (sorry this is so long :( )

My engagement ring was handed down from my fiances family so I would like to keep it. I can get it on my finger, but it is very hard to get it off. I am worried about getting it enlarged because I don't want it to be noticable. I have had rings made smaller and noticed where it was cut on the back. Has anyone had their ring enlarged and been happy with it? What is the aveage cost to go up a size?

I will have it looked at and ask for an estimate, but I live a distance from any jewler and do not get there often. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks so much

was it considered cheap or expensive for where you live?

My wedding will be just a little over $7,000. This is expensive in my hometown but it's CHEAP for where we live now!

I know theres alot of different opinions out there...where someone in California could have a wedding for 10,000 dollars where it would be cheap there but expensive in ohio or west virginia or someplace like that..

No offense to anyone in wva, ohio or california, im from ohio and was born in wv!

In the next year or so me and my fiance are getting married. I wear glasses all the time and don't really want to wear them during the wedding or in pictures. I can't hardly see without them and I'm already clumsy so I don't want to trip and fall either. Contacts aren't an option for me because I can't stand having my eyes messed with. They are very sensitive and it drives me nuts so no sticking my finger in my eye for me. Would Lasik surgery be a good way to go or should I just though it out without my glasses? Please seriously answers only! Thanks...
