I don't think so. It's just that it makes things difficult, like altering the dress and complications that could arise, making it impossible for the BM to be there for the bride during the whole planning process or even at the wedding. Other than that, I don't think there are any major reasons. Just personal ones maybe.

I think it's either because brides have this idea of a perfect wedding and having a pregnant bridesmaid is seen as an imperfection; or the think that the pregnancy will take the attention away from the bride. I think that having a pregnant bridesmaid is beautiful and is said to be good luck for the new bride and groom. The only problem is if she (pregnant bm) is really far along then she might be pretty uncomfortable standing for so long, but that choice should be hers to make.

I dont know why a pregnancy would bother a bride honestly. if the bride is a bridezilla.. then she might try to make things difficult. I've been in two weddings where I was pregnant. The first one I was MOH (7 months pregnant).. and I lit the unity candle (Pregnant with my twins). But really does depend on the bride, and bridesmaid. Personally I see NOTHING wrong with it. I hope this helps. Good luck.

It's usually the bridesmaid who doesn't want to stand up in a wedding, where she's being photographed all fat. Some brides also don't want to have to worry about bridesmaids gowns not fitting properly. But, it's not bad luck.

A lot of people are shallow baby bumps arent so pretty in wedding pictures to some women, I personally find baby bumps to be cute and either way my favorite person (pregnant or not) will be in my wedding.
Other than that the altering and stuff..
The only reason I could understand not including them is if the wedding is right around teh due date and your afraid they might go into labor during the wedding or not be able to show up for the wedding.

Well, I think it stems from the Bride not wanting attention taken away from her by a pregnant BM. I personally couldn't care less if one of my BM's were preggers.

Actually a pregnant woman is good luck. They are seen as symbols of abundance and prosperity.
The only problem is if they are very pregnant. There is a thing that happens if they stand in the same position for too long where pregnant women are prone to passing out. So you'd best be letting the BP sit during the ceremony.
The only reason I know this is because I had one pass out during a ceremony I was performing.

I've never heard of any old wives tales or superstitions about bad luck. I think it's probably an aesthetic thing. But if you are asking someone to be in your bridal party it is because they mean something to you. It should be more important to have that person in your wedding than to worry about how she looks.
I asked the woman who introduced me to my first husband to be in the bridal party. She became pregnant somewhere along the line and actually offered to bow out. But I insisted. She got her own dress, that matched, and she looked gorgeous and I was thrilled to have her there.

Because they don't want someone who looks like a beached whale waddling down the aisle. Plus that, if she is hormonal, she could get really volatile and moody. It is supposed to be about the bride, not about the bridesmaid's tummy!
