I am just curious, I am happily engaged and I love what I have, me and my friend have a bet....

what if you were presented with a gemstone engagement ring and you were expecting a 1 carat diamond ring, or something else very particular... what would you do?

gemstone engagement rings, good or bad?

bring a gift, would you comply?

*reason - the bride and groom each have plenty and will have to get rid of much when they combine their living quarters.

I understand the practical value when hosting for a couple who is starting out life together with very little - but throwing showers for people who have plenty? Or purely because it's traditional? What's up with that?

Has anyone tried the new kind of guestbooks that are available these days, or did you go for the traditional guest book?

I found this website selling guestbooks which are engraved instead of the traditional paper ones.

Should I go with one of the new ones, or the traditional one, or perhaps both?

For our wedding, we are having a canapes and drinks for guests around 5.30 in the afternoon. As we do not want to feel bloated before the wedding, what would be a good meal and what time to eat?

What have others done? (PS - We have no food allergies)

I hear so many couples having problems when it comes time to buy a wedding ring. The men are looking for something to say I am married a simple gold band and the woman want Fort Knox. Will a bigger ring make your marriage better? and why do so many people go into debt over a 5 minute wedding ceremony. For those of you who have never attended a wedding or been married yes it is not long at all with the actual bride and groom. Does anyone know the ansewers to these questions? Why not put some of this money into the future of the marriage?

My question is this.... Do most people include an envelope for the RSVP card? If so, do you include the stamp?
I was thinking that I am going to put my wedding website address on the RSVP card for those who may want to RSVP that way... I don't want to waste stamps if most will probably just respond that way.

My fiance and I need to find a way to plan an inexpensive honeymoon. I think we could come up with around $2000 for the trip; we would like it to last at least a six or seven nights. I was secretly hoping my parents would be willing to give us some of their frequent flyer miles and hotel points as a wedding gift (that's what they gave me as a college graduation gift), but it turns out they are not planning to do that. We live in California but would prefer to travel somewhere farther away for our honeymoon. (I have done a fair amount of international travel, so having a local honeymoon seems a bit anticlimactic.)

I don't make a lot of money (I'm a teacher!), but I would love to go to either the Caribbean, the Mediterranean, Australia, New Zealand, or Hawaii. Please help me with suggestions of hotels, airlines, countries with a good exchange rate, etc. I have been looking online at resorts and have become discouraged -- everything seems to cost $3000 or more!

Thanks!

I am not attending this wedding, I know the guy from work, but never met his son. I don't want to be rude but I haven't a clue what I am expected to do. Hate to offend him but if I'm obligated to buy gifts for everyone's celebrations I'd go broke. I've got a big family and a limited budget..

ok , here is what i need it to contain the words bell ( s)
and kissing.

you know when you go to a reception people bang on the glasses to make the couple kiss. Well everything at are reception is PLASTIC. ( pool side) any who

it can only be big enough to fit on a 2x3 card and convey that the bells on the table are for ringing when you wish for the couple to kiss.

it can be a catchy sentence, or phrase or a very short poem.

Today i went to my florist to make a payment on my wedding flowers. I asked for a copy of my owner and all the recipts so I could have a copy for my personl reconds, and to show my mom who is helping to pay for the wedding. She said I could not recieve these things until my order is paid in full, which won't be for awhile, and then she got an attitude with me, by saying something like" If you would pay this off sooner you can get it then". I am very upset because I've been really nice to this lady. The only reason we went with this flower shop is because my finace kept her son from being beat up in high school, and we thought she would give us a good deal. My mother and I are very upset, and we are seriously considering switching to a different florist, and launching a complaint with the BBB. I was wondering if anyone had a simlar experiance like this when planning their wedding.

Cute but a little to much for the budget. But I wanted to know if there are any websites that sell the wrappers for this favor. Or if there is a computer program that will make. I am doing most of the thinkgs for this wedding DYI so crafty is not a problem.

I have 3 bridesmaids and the one who I thought would be the easiest to get things done is being the most difficult. The last text message I got from her told me we were all going to look stupid. She gave a problem for the shower, won't show up for the bachelorette party, and is just being a huge problem in general. Oh yeah- the wedding is in two weeks. How do I get my point across without kicking her out of the limo (because that's about what I'm feeling right now!)? I'm not trying to go bridezilla, but everything I want she says is "stupid". Am I right and is it the bride's perogative (within reason)..or should I just let her do whatever the heck she wants?
