Ask yourself some questions. What are your interests? Where do your guests live? I think if you are planning on doing a lot of remodeling or adding a deck to your house, Home Depot is a great place to register. http://www.homedepot.com

Bed Bath and Beyond is great b/c they let you trade it in for cash. Say you get $400 in gift cards, you can trade it in for cash. You get 4 identical toasters, you can take them back for cash. Very few places do that and it's so helpful.

Where do your guests live is very important. Many people want to look over your registry and try to get an idea of what you like, what your style of decorating is. If you registered at department stores like Tiffany's and Sak's, realize that most of your guests do not have a TIffany's and a Sak's. I made sure that I registered at places that were located near the majority of my guests--New Jersey, Texas, and North Carolina. That is one of the advantages to registering at Target and/or Walmart is nearly everyone has them.

You and your husband camp, hunt and fish--many of those places have registries too. Consider REI, Bass Pro, Outdoor World.

Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn are great too but it may be more expensive than many of your guests were wanting to spend. Think about the financial situation of your guests and make sure to put items of all price ranges.

I registered at Crate and Barrel, Pottery Barn and Williams Sonoma and was very happy with them - especially crate and barrel... but afterwards I discovered that Amazon.com has a registry setup - which is very cool because you can register at a ton of places and it is all organized in one place.

I have read on various sites past brides saying that Bed Bath and Beyond is the best and Target is the worst.

I recently found www.bgregistry.com in a bridal magazine. It is an online site where you can add items from any online store and then supplies a link for guests to view. I think we may use it.

I did Walmart and Target- then you know everyone can afford to get you something- plus they have lots of stuff online that can be shipped to the store.
