Got engaged for my birthday, wedding is next yr, everything is great. I love him! I went for 6 month diamond inspection & rude sales woman informed me this is a promise ring or a right hand ring, not engagement. I said its whatever we wanted it to be! She noted that it was only a $300 ring and that its not considered to be. (I emailed a complaint to the store) I don't think he knew thats what he bought and its still an engagement ring to me. But I kinda felt bad when we were at the mall. There was a store sign for a $1000 1 karat ring and he said that was ridiculous. Then we were xmas shopping and he ended up spending over $500 on video games for his daughter. I guess I was looking for input because it made me feel like our engagement wasn't worth it. Its not even a matter of how much, how big, whatever. It was the fact that paying that much for a ring was ridiculous but ok for games. I know I'm going to get some responses thinking I'm shallow but that's not where I'm going with this

I have a bridesmaid dress for sale and I have listed it several times on ebay. I was wondering if there was an auction site specifically for wedding accessories? Any information would be appreciated!

This ring is 15000 i think its silly but i dont want him get something he cant afford. I love him and will take whatever he gets me but his mind is made up. So i have been thinking what if i ask him to marry me and eliminate the ring situation completely. I have talked to him about the ring but he is very stubborn. IS it odd to ask him to marry me

In addition to greeting guests, these people will make sure that guests sign the guest book, they will hand out favors, direct gift-givers to the gift table, and direct guests to their seats. However, they are not ushers as they do not physically show guests to their seats. I would like a unique/special way to address these two people on my wedding programs. Thanks.

My cousin is getting married out of the country next week. Half my family cant go because of finances. I cant go because of money, unable to get work off now (retail, xmas season) and college finals.
My cousin comes from a lot of money. hes not a millionaire, but he doesnt have to think twice about going to another country to get married. All of his guests are paying for their own plane ticket, passport, hotel room (in a hotel thats 200 a night that they picked out for everyone to stay at) , rental car and all meals that are not served at the wedding.
Some of the family (including those going and not going) asked me to pitch in a $100 dollars for a rediculous flashy gift. I think they are insane. I am now getting the cold shoulder because i said I didnt have a 100 extra dollars (which i dont) id rather make a $50 donation in their name, or something like that
Am i insne or are they?
Or maybe i am just too poor to be part of the family. sorry people for putting myself thru college

2 of my good friends from high school are getting married, six years after high school graduation. We were very good friends (in a tight group of about 8 people) during high school. We all hung out frequently during college breaks but I haven't kept in touch much in the past 2 years.

Now they are getting married and pretty much all of our friends other than me got invited - granted, they've kept in better touch with most of the other friends. They do have my contact info because we're friends on facebook. I even posted congratulatory notes on their walls as soon as they got engaged nine months ago.

But no wedding invitation. Is this a snub? I haven't done anything to make them mad at me, as far as I know. Or should I just accept that there's a limited number of invites to a wedding and they just don't value my friendship at much as the other friends?

I thouht it meant the same thing but when I looked over local sites (http://www.suarezweddingrings.com) and others like it, they separated wedding bands from wedding rings. What's the difference?

I have a friend I hang out with every Friday... like clockwork... for the past 3.5 years.

She recently got engaged, and although I didn't expect to be her Maid of Honor, I did sort of expect to be asked to be a bridesmaid. But she didn't ask.

Even weirder is that I know she confides in me things that the Maid of Honor doesn't know about her relationship with her husband to be.

Then a week later she then rudely requested a very specific and fairly expensive gift for Christmas-- telling me she had gotten me something for Christmas at the outlets.

I'm sort of wondering, should I tell her that I'm just disappointed or should I just try to ignore the controlling behavior she's exhibiting?

I'm still a teen but I'm wondering about something. I'm an Atheist and what if I marry a Christian girl? I would allow God to be our witness to please my girl and her in laws but I don't want everyone to say that I submit to the Christian faith because I don't.

Also what is considered an "American" wedding? If an American wedding can be non-Christian, then thank you. I like a girl whose Agnostic.^^

Thanks for reading.

My boyfriend and I aren't exactly "formal" people, but the site of our wedding is very beautiful and it costs a pretty penny. We are prioritizing the site and the food over some other things like flowers and decor and legions of bridesmaids. Even so, we are on a budget.

We were looking at the pricing for the caterer we want to use. If we use high-quality plasticwear instead of traditional china, we can save $10 per head -- which is over $1,500 when it all adds up.

My question is, will our guests find this tacky? If our wedding were in a backyard, I'm sure they wouldn't object to plasticwear, but since we're having it in a beautiful mansion it seems as though it might be out of place.

Thoughts? Advice?

ok. i live in new york and we are planning our wedding. we were looking at a few catering halls but the price is ridiculously high. we agreed that we were not going to spend $20,000 dollars in a hall for one day but we still want a reception.
so what we are going to do is rent a hall we've been to a few and they are beautiful and they only cost around $2,000 dollars then hire a rental place to decorate the hall for us which is about $1,000 dollars. then have a caterer. My question is i would love to have a sit down dinner instead of a buffet and i don't know if caterers do that. My fiance is a chef and he tells me that when they do catering they only do the sit-down if the party is in the restaurant if not then they send a few waiters to give the food but as a buffet. i'm going to be looking around this week but i just wanted some input if it can be done that way.

I'm getting married in May of 2008. My pastor at the church I attend is the one who is going to marry us. In the application to getting married at my church it states that you must meet with the pastor 2-4 times before the ceremony for pre-marital counseling.
So my question is... for those of you who have had to do this... what goes on during this meetings with the pastor. What kind of stuff is he going to address with you. and why do you think this is mandatory?
