I thouht it meant the same thing but when I looked over local sites (http://www.suarezweddingrings.com) and others like it, they separated wedding bands from wedding rings. What's the difference?

The terms are interchangeable.
It used to be that wedding bands were plain gold, for both the man and woman.
However, lots of women now have some diamonds on their wedding band if it matches their engagement ring.

Engagement ring= ring given to the women at the beginning of the engagement. It's typically a solitaire stone. Wedding ring and Wedding band = the same thing. The rings exchanged at the ceremony between the couple are both plain bands. Many brides like the band to match the engagement ring since many times women will have their engagement ring and their wedding ring soldered together to make one ring.

the wedding band is the ring you put on when you actually get married, along with your engagement ring. if you go on some jewlery sites you can see that the wedding band, is the second part of the set.

The man's wedding ring is also called a wedding band.

Typically the "band" is a bit plain compared to the engagement ring.

hope this helps :)

I would say that their meaning is that a wedding band is a plain gold band, either white or yellow gold. A wedding ring is set with diamonds and or gemstones and is somewhat fancier. Over here, they tend to call them "Wedders" in the jewelry store. Go figure.
Of course it could just be a different way of refering to the same thing. I have even heard some people refer to the engagement ring as the wedding ring.
Anyways whatever, choose what you want and make that your wedding band/ring whatever you wish to call it.

No difference

Wikipedia says "A wedding ring or wedding band consists of a precious metal ring, in certain countries (UK, other Commonwealth Nations, USA, Mexico, Brazil) worn on the base of the left ring finger – the fourth finger (counting from the thumb) of the left hand. In most other parts of the world, it is worn on the right ring finger (e.g. Norway, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland or Russia) "

wedding bands usually just means the bands either man's, woman's, or both, but the term wedding rings usually includes those plus the engagement ring usually as a set, it really is just a more complete listing, but some places do use the terms interchangeably

I would guess that a band is probably without stones, and the ring is with a stone that's sticking out? I've never heard of this distinction; most often, these terms are used interchangeably.

Bands are usually plain sometimes they have a design on it but they are very simple, no diamonds or gemstones. A ring has diamonds and or gemstones in them. But they mean the same thing, it's just a preference plain or stones.
