My cousin is getting married in the new year (new years day actually) however, she's going out of the country to get married (india) so all her cousins won't be able to attend the wedding. However in my culture it is custom for the bride's sisters and cousisn to make fun of the groom and vice versa. Since i can't go i'm looking to make a gag gift thats filled with a lot of funny things that we can give the groom...ie. the perfect husbands guide to marriage....or fake candy with humerous labless (oh horny....instead of oh henry..) ....stuff like that...we already have a leash.... and also if you have any idea's that include babies as well....like a diaper.....(they are planning on getting pregnant right after they get married)....Anything will help

Our wedding is in 2009. The venue and most things are booked. For number reasons we need to know who roughly can attend and who can't soon.

Is there cards you can send to let people know they are invited in advance, so they can book time off/holidays to come or they can write back saying they won't make it.

We don't want to send proper invites until nearer the time.

Our venue requires business causual for our rehearsal as they may have other events going on at that time, but we arent having a formal dinner, just parents and those in the wedding party (very few) coming back to our house for a nice casual dinner. I want to stand out as the bride, how do I do this if everyone else is dressed up as well? And I dont want to go over the top because the dinner afterwards is very casual and relaxed. Also, Im assuming I should wear something somewhat comfortable as the wedding is the next day... any suggestions? Oh and it will be February. Thanks so much!

My girlfriend and I are at odds with each other...She wants a wedding that is going to cost about 10K easily. I think that money would be better spent on getting a house. I have been married before and had a wedding (3k in costs), this will be her first time. I have offered alternative wedding plans to her such as a deffered wedding on our anniversary date, small intimate ceremony, etc. She has no money saved up..I have about 25k in savings. She has dreamed about a wedding all her life and a nice house as well...but there will be no house if we have an expensive wedding. Am I being unreasonable about not having her dream wedding?

For my Bridal Shower and Rehearsal Dinner. The Rehearsal Dinner is going to be very casual, BBQ and such. The Bridal Shower however is going to be a little nicer. I have no idea what to wear.

More and nmore often I am seeing married women not wear their wedding rings. They either wear nothing or another piece of jewelry. Can anyone, especially a woman explain this trend?

Ok I've been with my bf for 10 months now we're both 24 and I love him so much. He asked my dad for permission to propose to me and was turned down . My dad said we'll have to talk to our daughter and we'll get back to you. Well 2 1/2 weeks later my bf asked him what he decided and yet again he said all this crap.
So later that night my parents came to talk to me about this. They are SO against this because he is a sick person he has really low blood pressure from a diease called POTS and just recently has gotten a good job that he can work. My parents are having a cow about this. They think he'll never get better and I'll be stuck in a crappy marriage and be taking care of him for ever. I know in my heart that its not going to be that way since we've been together he's getting better and our prayers have been answered. My parents still wont except this. He makes me so happy and I love him so much and I've told them this over and over and now they have my whole family and even some of

the hotel that we reserved for our out of town guests has a shuttle available.

the wedding ceremony starts at 4:30 and the reception ends at 9:30 and the hotel is 11 minutes away from the venue.

what time should I have the shuttle leave the hotel and venue? how early should guests arrive and should I just have the shuttle pick them up at the end, 9:30?

My husband's cousin and his fiance called yesterday to let us know that they are getting married on Saturday and to invite us to their wedding. It's going to be immediate family and close friends only. My husband and his cousing are very close. I'm also helping the bride to get everything ready on the big day. They had a baby in March so when we got married in April, they came to the wedding, but said that they couldn't afford to get us a gift. We were both just glad that they came. This time, we don't have the extra money to buy them a gift on such short notice especially right at Christmas time. Under these circumstances, is it wrong not to buy the couple a gift? Thanks for your input. The reason they moved the wedding date up is actually because they are expecting another baby.

My husband and I got married in March when he was home on leave and we were planning on having a wedding reception at the end of December to celebrate with family and friends that couldn't be there for our wedding. (it was only a small ceromony) Well there has been a alot of conflict and clashing between our mother's personalities so we have decided to call it off, it's not worth all of the fighting back and forth so now I need to write a cancelation letter to inform all of our guest but I do not know where to begin. How do I keep it short and sweet and to the point with out too much info. I need to get these out ASAP!!! Thank you for your help.

My mom is paying for our wedding and honeymoon and she wants to ride in the limo (that she's paying for), along with some other people of my family, with me and my new husband while we go to the airport (45 minutes away) to go to our honeymoon. What would your thoughts be if your mom told you that's what she wanted to do? Cause my thinking is we just got married (which is a symbolization of growing up, leaving the nest, being without your parents) we would want to be alone. But she is paying for it and I don't want to be rude but I don't think going to our honeymoon is a "family event". But she thinks it would be fun. I know "do what you want to do" and all that but what would YOU do if your mom wanted to ride along?

We have found a reception location that we LOVE, only problem is that it can only accommodate 80 people. We have 117 people on the guests list, most of whome are interstate.
Judging by cousins weddings (in my state and inviting the same interstate family) I know about 65 guests will definately come (11 of these are children, does that make a difference?) and 17 definately will not come leaving us with 35 that may go either way.
Do you think that is too many people to invite for the 80 person limit?
How many should I expect to show up out of the 35?
Do reception venues downplay their maximum capacity eg if 5 more than the limit showed up would that usually be ok?

my fiance are doubting on the whole wedding ceremony expense. we want to get married, but even a simple garden wedding is starting to look around $5,000 aust. we were curious if the money for the day is worth going on something else, or if people had positive comments on the money they spent on their big day. thanks

Who thinks that a bride picks a color and the bridesmaids pick the dress style looks ok? I was told earlier today it looks tacky with mismatched style dresses. I'd rather have all my bridesmaids comfortable with their dress so they get up and have a good time at the reception. What do you think?

I plan to buy an engagement ring in a near future. I have a slight problem though. I do not know my girlfriend's finger size. I read that, the best way to do this is pick up a ring she owes and put it on a scale. Well said, worse done. My girlfriend has only one golden ring that she always wears. She never takes it off. She sleeps with it, takes a shower, go to work with, cook and everything possible. How do I take her ring for measurement purposes without her getting suspicious? I might do it once she sleeps, but she'll notice anyway, I'll wake her up by doing so. Or she might pretend she sleeps and want not to destroy my plans. I don't want even a slightest thought from her side that I will or plan to propose. I want to be this a total surprise, like a thunder! :) Any advice please?

I have a huge problem right this very moment! Yesterday my girlfriend hit me, i dont mean just punch or slap but attacked me. She held me down and kicked me hit me scratched me. It has happend before but i hoped it would stop, i threatend her that i will hit her back if she doesnt stop.

So after it happend last night i couldnt stop thinking about it after she had gone to bed. Then i did something terrible! I went to confront her. I asked her if she can see the scar on my face and to apologise, she said that she cant see it and said "Those are just pimples" Geez i did something bad. I Grabbed her violently and gave her a hard shake that hurt her alot! And said: "You never hit me again!" She started to cry uncontrollably like i had punched her in the face or something although i didnt. She threw a plate at me, a cooldrink bottle hit me with a gholfclub and sprayed me with pepperspray. Smsed someone that i was abuse and hitting her and broke of our engagement, although she asked me to sleep next to her in bed?! i did,we sleep in the same bed every night. We've been together for 5years are engaged love each other to death, she was my first and only and i was hers! we've never made love to anyone else. We bought an expensive home together that we will not be able to affort if we split. This happend yesterday what do i do? She already said that we are over forever and regrets that she met me. I feel like an abuser! I feel really messed up and confused. What do i do??
