My sister is getting married and because they've got everything they possibly need - they don't want gifts, they prefer cash donations towards their Fiji honeymoon.

Can you think of a poem that is funny, not greedy, and romantic that I can attach to the wedding invitations?

I'll jump through the computer and kiss you if you come up with the right one! Please help!

If I don't like my fiance's brother for some reasons, can I just not invite him? My fiance of course wants him to be there, but he basically will agree with everything I say. What will you do if you were me? Do you think my fiance's parents will hate me if I didn't invite the brother to my wedding?

My boyfriend is in a wedding coming up. I was wondering if I should go to the rehearsal dinner with everyone. I don't want to show up unexpected. I would ask the groom but I know he is CLUELESS. Also the wedding is a few hours away and we will be driving together. What should I do while all the groomsmen get ready? I only know the bride a little so hanging with the girls is not an option. What do people usually do in these situations. We have always been in the same weddings, and the one I was in without him he hung with the groomsmen anyways while they got ready. Sorry this is so long, but I really just want to follow etiquette.

I'd never really thought about marriage before, or religion for that matter, but I recently heard that you need to get "confirmed" in order to marry.

Now, this doesn't seem right to me, because as far as I know, you only get confirmed if you're christian or catholic. (I could be completely wrong, I have no idea) I also heard that apparently only one of you has to be.

I'm mostly positive that if that is true, you can still get a more legal marriage without a conformation of sorts.

That being said, is it possible to have the more traditional wedding (church, after party, etc) without being confirmed in a religion?

I live in MN USA, if that makes a difference.

Any information would be appreciated, as I'm both a stranger to relgion and the details involved in weddings.

i've seen so many people not know how to handle this time in a wedding. does the bride and groom immediately line up for the receiving line? or do they run into the wedding car and honk the horn all over town? or do they go for photos, or what and when exactly do we throw the bird seed, or blow bubbles if they beat us out of the chapel? i never did 'get it'.

My fiance and I invited everyone to our wedding and on the invatation if they didn't have kids or a husband we put: "You may bring a date if you wish". Then we put on the response card "Date's Name'" (For the seating) and then a space for your date's name.

We have recieved 5 response cards back so far, 3 of which are the dates optional and 2 of them put three or four names on the line for "Date's Name"! We just ment one person!

How do we tell theese people we only wanted them to bring one person, but still be nice?

One of my best friends got married in July. My girlfriend and I gave him, an EXTREMELY GENEROUS gift. I didn't do it to outshine anyone else, but we were close with him and his fiance. The gift was almost too generous. It is now the end of September and I havent heard from him since. We have received no thank you card, and all of my friends have received one, I used to talk to him everyday, now he disappeared, How do I approach this?

with out hurting their feelings. i know evey mother wants to have some say in their daughter's wedding day. but my mother wants to plan every detail. and his mother has all these ideas that are of jamaican tradition. my groom and i agree to have a beautiful yet simple untraditional wedding. please help me before i get to stress out. No, we can't elope because both of our fathers already put most of the money down to book the places we want to have the wedding and reception. I respect my mother and his mother and i know they want what's best for us, but they aren't taking any of my ideas into consideration. please give me some good advice that won't hurt anyones feelings. Thanks in advance

Me and my boyfriend fiance has been seeing each other for 8 years, ok, he has an 8 year old daughter, I met everyone in his family almost, in passing, ok, but never his daughter, We plan to be married in a year, and the last time i brought up about me getting to know his daughter, He growled at me, and told me that his ex wife refuses for me to ever see his daughter, I was floored, i said Why? iam a good mom, And he said,s he said, She made it by her lawyer that if i do get married to him that she wants all custody rights, and for me never ever to see his daughter, Now he can visit her on certain occasions, but Iam not allowed to see her, Is this right? or am I just being too selfish? she doesnt even know that i exist, He never told her, I dont want to go against the law either, if this is how she wants it, then ok, so beat it, But i just think its so strange, and stupid, Soo how to get him to talk to me about it, he really does not want me to bring up this issue?

I'm really curious, does anyone actually believe this?? I mean, I have read it given as a reason over and over and over and once upon a time believed it as a reason. Then I see my cousin-in law go 7 years and 2 children and then they got married, and I know others, just don't know specific details. Do you believe in this old addage, or do you think it has passed on with time?

My husband and I are renewing our vows after 20 years of marriage. We are planning a tropical theme, casual, and the ceremony will be at our home with just family and a few close friends. My husband is wearing a white silk shirt and khaki pants (think beach wedding), and I purchased a white satin wedding dress at a great price and remade it. I took all the tulle and stuff out from underneath, cut off the train and took out a ton of fabric from the sides so that it is still full, but not overwhelming. The dress has beading only around the neckline and straps and at the waist - no lace. Now I am reading that wearing a white wedding dress to a vow renewal is considered "tacky". I kind of did this because I am the original "jeans and t-shirt" type and I wanted to wow my husband (we actually got married the first time in jeans with no family present). I don't want to look stupid or like I am trying to be something I'm not, just wanted a fun day. Should I get something else to wear?
