I'm getting married in june 2008, and everyone keeps asking if I've found a dress, or picked flowers/cake/bridesmaid dresses... and I don't have any of that yet... I've been engaged for (almost) 2 months now... when should i really have all that finalized by?!

Now is probably the time to start. Location and wedding party are important first steps. You can look at wedding websites like thknot.com for wedding timeline guides.

But it can depend on the size and formality of your wedding. If you're looking to have a 400 guest wedding and spending big bucks, you are late getting started! If you are looking at 50 guests and getting married in your parents back yard, you have plenty fo time.
And rememebr that June 2008 is a ways away, so when buying a dress, think about weight gain and loss and don't schedule final fittings until closer to the date.

I was engaged for 2 years before we picked a date. That was June of this year and we are getting married Sept of next year. I got my dress(clearence for $220) my headpeices and undergarments(total of above $600). We have booked the hotel for the reception, the DJ for the music and the photographer. We know what the favors will be and I have 3 of my attendents picked out. We will put forth more of an effort after the new year. I wanted these vendors so I booked early. If I was you I would start checking around cause June is a super busy wedding month.

I don't know where you live, but in South Carolina, we have a huge wedding industry. I am already booked for every Saturday in June '08. if you have an april, may, or june wedding, you should start planning the week you get engaged. All the good churches venues, photographer, caterers, florists, etc will be booked by November or December. Don't wait.

You should start as soon as possible. If you wait you may find that some of your preffered vendors are already booked. I am getting married in August of 2008 and have booked the location, bakery, photographer, ordered my dress, started to interview DJ's and officiants and looked at bridesmaid dresses. Good luck!

As long as your venues are booked, I wouldnt pannic. A wedding is only as stressfull as you let it be. Do what is comfortable for you.
I am getting married 6 July. I havent even thought of looking at dresses yet....cake, or anything. It doesnt need to be abig drama.
Good luck and dont forget the most important thing is to enjoy everything, including the planning.

People are probably just asking because it's a good conversation starter, not because it's imperative that you do everything now. However, depending on where you live it can be hard to do things last-minute. I've had friends who did things a couple months before the wedding and still had beautiful weddings, but they had to make some sacrifices. Have fun and congratulations!

You've got tons of time! People will do that! Really, we weren't married a month when people started asking us if we were registered yet! We did register about 2 weeks before the invites went out for the shower--don't worry about everyone's advice--take what you like, and dismiss what you don't.

My answer is ASAP! You can never start too early. There are many places and services that are booked up way ahead and difficult to obtain the longer you hold off. Enjoy the process, the more you lock in now the less stress later. It is supposed to be a wonderful experience after all.

I would start looking now. It took me almost 2 years to plan our Wedding. Trust me, it's easier and less hectic if you start now instead of waiting and rushing. Good Luck and Congrats!!

You should start looking for that stuff now so that you are not rushed. You still have time, but it is better to have extra time and be able to look many places to find the "perfect" one.
